Executive Principal's Message | Sri KDU Kota Damansara International School
I truly believe that teaching is a noble profession, noble in that the profession is driven by an underlying duty of care for each child and a belief in empowering every child to achieve their maximum potential. These are noble goals and why, at the heart of our mission is our commitment to ensure every child is safe, happy and successful at Sri KDU Kota Damansara.
Great teachers are passionate about achieving those goals and demonstrate this passion through their unwavering dedication to the individual needs of each and every child. I am deeply proud of the great teachers we have in our school community, and it is because of them that we feel able to make our Five Promises to families.
Our students consistently achieve Top Academic Outcomes because the pursuit of excellence is a habit within our schools. Such pursuit of excellence is reflected every day, in the classroom, on the stage, in the pool or on the field, through student leadership and student led events. Yet, we do not rest on our laurels, but promise Continuous Improvement, through utilising latest research and innovative approaches to learning. It is why professional development of our teachers is a cornerstone of our approach. We are truly a learning community.
One of our most challenging tasks is to prepare students for a future that we cannot fully be certain of. This is why we are Future Focused on developing the skills and mindset that will enable our students not only to have a successful future but to become future leaders. We do this through an approach to learning where students are challenged to think critically and creatively, where student voice and agency are valued strongly and where young people gain confidence in their ability to make a difference.
Nurturing confidence in young people that they can make a difference and be the change-makers of tomorrow means building character, immersing young people in opportunities to take risks, within a supportive framework, build upon their successes and learn from their failure. This requires a special sort of community, one in which the child feels safe and happy. We achieve this through Welfare and Safeguarding, caring about the wellbeing of every member of our community and aligning our safeguarding approach to the highest international safety standards.
We are deeply conscious of the role we play, in close partnership with parents, in helping young people form a strong sense of identity, a sense of belonging to a wider community. It is that sense of belonging that gives young people the strength to tackle the challenges in life they will face. As a school we recognize this through our curriculum, through the many events we have throughout the year to celebrate cultural roots and through embracing our local community. We truly seek to nurture “Malaysian Hearts, Global Minds”.
We are proud to be a diverse and international community where our Enhanced National and International curriculums offer a variety of learning pathways and opportunities that enable young people to achieve their ambitions.
We are immensely proud to have been awarded the Gold Award for the International School Quality Mark (ISQM), the highest level of this prestigious award conferred on international schools in the UK and around the world. We were the first international school in Malaysia to receive the gold accolade. We are also proud to be members of the Federation of British International Schools in Asia (FOBISIA), the Association of International Malaysian Schools (AIMS), BMCC (British Malaysian Chamber of Commerce) and Cambridge Assessment for curriculum and examinations, because they confirm our standards meet the excellence that these organisations represent and require.
As the Executive Principal I am fully committed to ensuring that our school community is one that enables all out students, families and staff to be safe, happy and successful.
I look forward to meeting you and welcoming you to our community.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
