SKIS Receives Green Flag Award
At the WWF Award Ceremony which was co-hosted by Sri KDU International School (SKIS), the Green Flag Award was awarded to SKIS for their environmental work under the Eco-Schools Programme (ESP) in Malaysia. Despite the fact there are 170 schools that have registered for the ESP since its introduction in 2011, only six schools nationwide, including SKIS, have received this prestigious award.
This success is largely attributed to the efforts of the student-led Green Council along with the SKIS students and teachers. Thanks to the leadership of its Presidents, Carissa Tan Ying Xuan and Nethraa Narendran, and committee members, they have generated awareness on making the surrounding school areas more eco-friendly and raised concerns about issues relating to energy and waste. SKIS also presented a cheque of RM2000, proceeds from the recent SKIS Eco Carnival, to WWF Malaysia to help fund their environmental causes.
Our appreciation goes to Dr Sundari Ramakrishna, the Conservation Director of WWF Malaysia and Ms Jessie Chew, Eco-School Programme Coordinator, WWF Malaysia for gracing the occasion. We would also like to express our gratitude to all the students, families and staff members that have continuously supported the school’s green efforts.
Keep it up!
