Dear Families,
Welcome back to Term 2!
Although this is the shortest half term of the academic year, as always, we are filled with activity, intrigue and excitement.
As part of my introduction letter to the community when I was announced earlier in the week as Principal Designate, I talked about the idea of marginal gains and marginal tweaks over time; understanding what is next and how do we get there. This week, we announced the launch of our Early Years Stay and Play programme and have been thrilled by the responses so far. This is the first of a couple of new initiatives in the pipeline and we look forward to it coming to fruition. Thank you to the working going into this from Ms Elysia and the EYFS team, further information and details of this can be seen below in the newsletter. We are continually looking for ways to develop and improve what we offer to our community and would be open to ideas and suggestions as we continue to grow.
A British curriculum, or education, is one which is synonymous with breadth and high standards and is identified as the most popular curriculum in the World. A broad balanced curriculum is the goal and our ultimate qualification (A Levels) are seen as the ‘gold standard’ for pre university studies. This week, we embarked upon the exciting journey with our year 9 students of actually having an option in learning and an option in subject selection and study. This is an important and exciting turning point in our students’ educational journey and one which challenges both students and parents. We returned to our first fully physical meeting since the pandemic with parents for this and look forward to once again hosting mentoring sessions with our year 11 students, again something we have not managed throughout the pandemic.
Next week, we celebrate the Luna New Year in school, and we look forward to the baazar which will be in the reception area, hosted by the PTA. Our celebrations will formally take place on Thursday 19th January where we have invited a company to provide a Lion Dance for us and look forward to the whole school assembly planned for the afternoon. This assembly will be live streamed to parents.
Finally, I would personally like to thank the community for the overwhelming support I have received this week for my new role. I hope that for those preparing for celebrating the Luna New Year, these are going well and that all have a safe and happy weekend.
Best wishes,
Cassie Fleming
On behalf of the School Leadership Team
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
