Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this finds you all well.
Apart from the start of the week, when we had to stop outdoor activity, the API has
maintained a green status below 100. This week, we celebrated Mental Health Week.
Throughout the week students have experienced circle time - a 'Let's Talk" initiative,
Brain gym to reactivate the brain, calming breathing exercises like Yoga or Zumba in
PE, a workshop done by Segi University College and most importantly, we have talked
about mental health. During assembly, we had Year 11 Gamma present a video on their
thoughts on Mental Health and share a small gift of gratitude to staff to support their
wellbeing.
I hope that students from Primary through to Secondary now understand a number of
techniques to support them when they feel anxious about something and that there is
always help available to them. Firstly, from themselves in recognising the cause issue
and managing that or seeking support to manage that. It was great to see so many
students embrace World Mental Health Day by wearing green or wearing a badge in
support and sending messages of thanks in the library on the Gratitude Wall. Finally, we
hope that the parents who joined us for the Zumba session went into the weekend
more relaxed!
In Monday's assembly we also celebrated the participants of the Public Speaking
competition and launched the XCL's Got Talent Competition. This year the XCL's Got
Talent International competition will take place in Malaysia on the April 4th and 5th, to
be hosted in the Kota Damansara Campus. The Malaysia round will take place on
January 10th. This year, there will be two separate competitions for Primary: to the age
of 12 years and from 12 to 17 years for Secondary. For further details, please contact
Mr Chang.
After the holidays, the Storytelling Championship begins with the launch in assembly,
briefing and preparation in that week. The 1st and 2nd rounds will take place on the
30th and 31st respectively and the final round will take place on the 1st of Nov. Good
luck to all participants.
As we move into the holiday. I wish everyone a safe and pleasant holiday, be that
staying at home or travelling.
Have a great weekend.
Regards,
April Peters
