Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
What a wonderful way to end the half term – with the vibrancy and energy of the
Chinese New Year celebration and of course the wonderfully energetic and boisterous
lion dance. I hope you enjoyed the student performances; they have worked hard to
prepare the show and have also been busy with classroom CNY activities as well as the
now traditional DeliSchool holiday cooking masterclass.
I would like to wish our whole community a Happy Chinese New Year – Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Curriculum Survey
Thank you to the parents who have already completed the 2025-26 curriculum survey.
Following discussions with the Parent and Guardians’ Association committee it seems
that the link did not reach all parents and so we will extend the survey until the end of
the Chinese New Year holiday. Those parents who still wish to contribute can do so
using the link below up until Sunday, February 2nd.

2025-26 Calendar
Here is the school calendar for the 2025-26 Academic Year. It includes the term dates
and the major school events. We will release a more detailed events and activities
calendar for parents in Term 3 ready for the following August.

Student Access cards - Year 4 to 11
With our newly installed lock line fencing and access-controlled doors it has become
apparent that many student cards’ chips have stopped working. We will of course, be
replacing these free of charge and aim to have replaced all by the 10th of February. Lost
and visibly damaged student access cards will still be subject to a RM 20 fee for
replacement.
Coffee shop
Things are happening a little slower than we would have hoped with this – the coffee
machine has now been delivered, and we are just waiting for it to be plumbed in. We are
hopeful the coffee shop will open after Chinese New Year.
Bookshop Holiday Closure
Please note that the school bookshop will be closed from the 27th of January to the 2nd
of February for Chinese New Year. The school bookshop will resume operations on the
3rd of February.
Congratulations to the Gan sisters
Well done to Natalie Gan (Year 8) for participating and doing really well International
Children Culture & Art Development Association 2024 dance competition. In the Youth
Category Ballet (Age 15 to 17 category) and the Juvenile Category Others (Age 12 to 14
category), Natalie bagged the Gold award and a Silver award in the Juvenile Category
Ballet (Age 12 to 14).
Meanwhile, younger sister Grace (Year 6) has claimed a black belt in Taekwondo as she
successfully completed the Taekwondo Black Belt Power Test that was held recently.
Their dedication to their art is a testament that studies and extra-curricular activities
can go hand-in-hand as they have excelled in both fronts.
Gong Xi Fa Cai!
Regards,
