Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
Welcome back for Term 3. We are all very excited about what’s ahead over the next few weeks with day trips, house competitions, STEAM week, residential trips – including our firs overseas trip to Beijing – Awards ceremonies, IGCSE examinations, House competitions, and
the Year 11 graduation and prom all complementing our usual business of classroom learning and teaching.
We’ve also been busy this week with our colourful Hari Raya celebration assembly, MSS swimming competition and XCL’s Got Talent competitions serving as memorable highlights.
I am hugely proud of the efforts of Grace (Year 6) Natalie (Year 8) and Zhi En (Year 10) who displayed their flair at the International XCL’s Got Talent Competition at Kota Damansara on Wednesday. They were part of an 11-school competition amongst the Singapore and
Malaysia XCL schools.
Grace impressed with a funky K-pop dance performance entitled ‘Meow Meow’. While
Natalie and Zhi En gave a unique rendition of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, with Zhi En
providing the dramatic soundtrack via her electone and Natalie demonstrating her poise
and artistry through the medium of contemporary dance.
The girls were in good company as the standard of performances was incredible from
across the schools – and I can confirm that XCL does indeed have talent!
Delischool / SIKG Hari Raya Cooking Masterclass
Thank you to the families who joined us for the class. Thank you also to Anis and her team
at Delischool for running another fun session.
Swimming Pool Closure
Unfortunately, the sails above the swimming pool were badly damaged during the storm that battered Klang on Wednesday night. The pool is currently out of bounds until the situation is rectified and so swimming lessons will be replaced by PE lessons for the time being. We will update you on the resumption of swimming lessons once the repairs are complete and the pool is confirmed as safe to use.
Whole School - Photography
We have a photographer coming to school on Wednesday and Thursday to take individual portrait pictures of every student and also to take group photos of all classes. We request that students come to school in their full school uniform on their allocated class photo day.
The photographs will be available for parents to purchase as well as used in our school Yearbook. Information will follow in a separate letter on how to order your photographs.
