Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
Congratulations to the Secondary students who completed their assessment week
this week. Please note that although the examinations are over, important learning
and teaching continues until the end of term. The exam data will help inform
school reports and allow teachers to plan ‘gap-filling’ where misconceptions
revealed in the assessments can be addressed in upcoming lessons.
Congratulations also to the Under-9 and Under-11 swimmers who represented the
school with distinction in the Kuala Lumpur Sports League this week at IGB
International School. A special mention to Jefferson, Ethan, Kayden, and Eu Raay
who collected bronze medals.
Parent Survey
The Term 3 Parent Survey is now live and will close on June 15th. Please take five
minutes to let us know how we are doing. All comments are read and help to
inform the school’s planning for the next academic year and beyond. The more
responses received the more impetus we have when it comes to allocating
resources and budget setting and which lead to improvements for the benefit the
children. Our school had one of the best response rates in the XCL Malaysia group
last time (third behind the REAL Kids Pre-school group and REAL School Cheras).
Let’s take first place this time round - please take a few minutes to answer the
survey if you can.
The overall rating score is based on the widely used Net Promoter Score method.
Scores of 9 and 10 will show your support for the progress of the school since the
last survey in November. Scores of 7 and 8 are considered neutral and a score of 6
or below shows any dissatisfaction. We would love to see many more positive
scores this time but if you are concerned about something, there’s no need to wait
for the survey - please contact any of the Senior Leadership Team or email SIKG
general enquiries at sikg@srikdu.edu.my, and we will do our utmost to resolve your
concern.
Playground Update
Work is due to start next week on the installation of the Primary School playground
in Academic Street. Completion is expected by June 20th, which is by the end of
term.
Inter-house Sports Competition
Thursday, June 5th will be our annual Inter-house Sports Competition
All students From Year 1 to Year 10 should come to school in their house-coloured
sports kit on the day.
International Charity Carnival and Open Day – Saturday, 21st June
Our Charity Carnival will have an international theme with classes running stalls
under a range of different national flags. As well as the stall we will have a zoo, a
bouncy castle, food stalls and much more to create a fun environment for the
whole family.
The event is open to the public, so please invite your friends, families and
neighbours to join us. As a public event and because teachers will be running
stalls, there is no childcare offered by the school on the day of the event. Children
will remain under the care of their parents and guardians, not the school. Parents
should use their usual judgement to determine the appropriate level of supervision
as in any other public space.
There is no obligation on parents to take active roles in the running of the event
but should anyone wish to get involved your help would be most gratefully
received. There are five main ways you can help make the event a success:
- Volunteer your time to support the running of your child’s stall
- Donate items to be sold on the stalls
- Set up your own parent-run stall with proceeds fully donated to charity
- Set up as an independent vendor (private business) on a profit-sharing basis
- Spend lots of money to help us raise the maximum charitable donation possible!
If you want to get involved, please contact your child’s class teacher or form tutor
to find out more or drop us an email at sikg@srikdu.edu.my and we’ll get back to
you.
Parent-Teacher Conference – Wednesday, 25th June
The Term 3 PTCs will run from 9am until 5pm on Wednesday, 25th June. More
details about the event will be shared in advance of the event – please just save
the date for now.
Regards,
Rhys Thomas
