Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
SIKG – Full AIMS Membership Confirmed
Sri KDU International Schools are now proudly members of the Association of International
Malaysian Schools (AIMS). Our membership was confirmed this week and as well as being a
formal external affirmation of the good work happening at the school, it will allow us to
access a wider range of competitions and events. This will include sports and performing
arts events and competitions and increased professional development opportunities for our
teachers.
2024-25 IGCSEs Complete
The exams are finally over for our hardworking Year 11 students. I hope the results in August
bring you the success that your efforts deserve. I am proud of your conduct and application
throughout the long examination window. Well done and enjoy your prom next week!
Year 6 Complete Primary School
Congratulations to our Year 6 students who today (Friday, 13th June) completed a rite of
passage at their Moving Up Assembly. They now prepare for life in ‘big school’ working with
specialist teachers across the subject range. Thank you to Ms. Menessha for being a
wonderful Year 6 teacher and a specialist in all things! Thank you also to the many proud
parents who were in attendance at the ceremony, your support means a huge amount to
the children.
Re-introducing Clara Ong, Senior Parent Relations Executive
It occurred to us that we missed a key part of our demographic when introducing Clara a few weeks ago. She will be a big help to those parents whose preferred language is Mandarin, so here’s Clara in her own words:
"My name is Clara, and I am pleased to introduce myself as the Senior Parent Relation Executive at the school. I joined the team about one and half months ago and have since been enjoying getting to know the wonderful community here. Being your parent “concierge”, I am committed to supporting you and ensuring that communication between parents and our team remains open, responsive, and meaningful. I understand how important it is for you to stay informed and connected with your child’s learning journey. Therefore, I am here to assist in any way I can.
I am fluent in English, Mandarin, Malay, and Hokkien. I hope this allows me to communicate comfortably with many of you in your preferred language.
For the time being, I am also managing the school reception. You will often find me at the front desk, where I am happy to assist with your questions or concerns.
I truly look forward to working together with you to help create a positive, enriching experience for both you and your child.
Warm regards,
Clara

GL Progress Test Success
Barring a few absentees, we have now completed our GL Progress Tests in English, Maths
and Science in Years 3 to 9. I am pleased to report that that our mean scores from across
Primary and Secondary school are above ‘national average’. In the case of our last external
test point before IGCSEs, Year 9, students scored significantly above national average for
Mathematics and Science. ‘National average’ here refers to UK national average with tests
based on the English National Curriculum. This is of huge credit to the students and their
teachers given with our diversity of cultural and linguistic backgrounds.
Individual student reports will be made available to parents along with school reports at the
end of term.
Inter-house Music Competition
Congratulations to Phoenix House who won the inaugural Inter-house Music Competition
on Monday. The contest was a tough one for the judges to adjudicate but Phoenix took the
prize through their combination of musicality and their inclusion of the entire house team.
Well done to Griffin, Dragon and Kraken houses for your creative interpretations of the
contest theme: Time Travel.
Parent Survey (Reminder)
We have a few days to go on our Term 3 Parent Survey. This will close on June 15th. Just a
few more 10 scores to go.
Secondary School Trip to Beijing, China
Bon voyage to our Secondary students who today head off for a week of exciting cultural
exploration in Beijing. This is the school’s first international trip – something that we intend
to make a regular feature of our calendar.
International Charity Carnival Day – Saturday June 21st
Planning for our International Charity Carnival Day is now in full swing. There will be fun
events for the whole family including a bouncy castle, an exotic animal enclosure and a
haunted house! Stalls and attractions are student-led in upper Primary and Secondary under
the guidance of their teachers. If any parents can spare 30 minutes to help supervise a stall,
please contact your child’s class teacher or form tutor to find out more or drop us an email
at sikg@srikdu.edu.my.
To help manage the security of cash on the day, we will use a coupon system. RM50 coupon
books will go on sale via class teachers and at our main reception from Monday, June 16th.
Remember the day is to raise money for our four house charities so please give generously
and buy plenty of coupons. The charities are:
Kraken: Rumah Kasih
Griffin: Dignity for Children
Dragon: Food Bank Malaysia
Phoenix: SPCA Selangor
Parent Teacher Conferences (reminder)– Wednesday June 25th
The Term 3 PTCs will run from 9 am until 5pm on Wednesday, June 25th. The Secondary
school will work on a ‘drop-in’ basis as in previous years, while Primary Class Teachers will
contact parents directly to make appointments.
Regards,

Campus Principal
