Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
As we enter the final week of the school year, there has been no let-up in the intensity
and excitement at Sri KDU Klang. I look forward to seeing you all as we finish the year
with our Charity Carnival, Term 3 Parent Teacher Conference, our annual Prize Giving
Ceremony and of course our Year 11 graduation.
International Charity Carnival Day; Saturday, 21st June: 9am-12 noon
Thank you to everyone who has generously purchased a great number of RM50 coupon
booklets, which will be the currency of the day. Don’t worry if you haven’t purchased
yours yet, coupons will be on sale at the door tomorrow. Please do come along and
support the children and the house charities.
Coming up next week:
I normally share the dates for the following week at the end of my section, but the last
week of term needs higher billing:
No CCAs Next Week
No CCAs will run in the last week of term due to the end-of-term events disrupting
normal routines. Paid ECAs with external providers continue as usual.
End-of-Year Prize Giving Ceremony
Families of award winners will be invited to attend our 2024-25 Award Ceremony next
Thursday. The awards are for children from Years 1 to 11 and will be a celebration of
this academic year’s successes.
The full list of awards and judging criteria can be found here.
To make the event a safe and happy one for our community, we make the following
requests:
Children should be in full school uniform, complete with black shoes.
Parents are requested to collect their children between 3.10 pm and 3.30 pm from the
usual pick-up area at the school cafeteria – please do not attempt to take your child
directly from the hall as this causes confusion at handover and makes the safe
handover duty of care challenging.
Parents in attendance are permitted to take photographs of on-stage activity,
including the performances and prize awards, but are asked not to post pictures of
any children other than their own on any social media platform without the explicit
consent of the other child’s parents.
The school needs to be aware of everyone on site, family members other than parents
with school lanyards will need to sign in at our security desk, this includes ex-pupils.
All visitors under the age of 18, including ex-pupils, must be accompanied by a
registered adult. If agreed in advance, this may be a parent of another pupil or a staff
member.
EYFS Complete!
Congratulations to our EYFS2 children who today celebrated the end of their Early Years
education at their Moving Up ceremony. Sheron, Chenynn, Lucas and Kaylee are
absolute superstars with bright futures ahead of them – well done for a great year!
No Direct Payments to Teachers, please
With the best intentions, some of our staff have been accepting charitable donations or
trip payments through their personal bank accounts to make onward payments to
vendors and charities. For the avoidance of doubt, this is against our school policy.
Thank you to those parents who raised the issue, which has brought it to my attention
and allowed us to clarify procedures for our teachers. Our teachers are good and honest
people, and we don’t want to expose them to the risk of accusations of impropriety. The
school has mechanisms for collecting payments through Ms. Clara at reception and the
school’s bank account.
Congratulations to Our Students!

Secondary School Trip to Beijing, China
Yesterday (Thursday, 19th June), our students and teachers touched down safely back
at KLIA following their cultural odyssey in Beijing. They have had a great week,
exploring far and wide around the Chinese capital, including visits to the Great Wall and
Tiananmen Square. I look forward to hearing the students' account of their adventures.
A point of clarification from last week’s newsletter – although this was the first
international trip organised by Sri KDU Klang, our students were offered an opportunity
in 2023 to join an international trip organised by our sister school in Subang Jaya. My
apologies to those who felt the statement was deliberately misleading.
Appointment – School Counsellor
We are delighted to announce that from August 2025, the school will have a newly
appointed School Counsellor to support our community with their wellbeing and holistic
development. Ms. Cheryl Kong arrives from Monash University, where she has worked
as a student counsellor since 2021. Ms. Cheryl has 7 years of Counselling experience
and a master’s degree in Professional Counselling, also from Monash University.
We will share more about the drop-in, educational and referral process in the new term.
Request for support with Academic Study From Ex-SIKG Teacher, Tham Lai Ngor
Ms. Tham Lai Ngor, is a postgraduate student from Guangdong University of Foreign
Studies, who previously served as a Mandarin teacher at Sri KDU Klang. She is pursuing
a master’s degree in International Chinese Language Education.
Ms. Tham would like to request parents’ consent to include Sri KDU Klang Students in
her graduate thesis entitled "Research on Experiential Teaching of Chinese Traditional
Festivals in a Multicultural Milieu: A Case Study of Sri KDU International School in
Klang, Malaysia.
For more information and to provide consent, please see Ms Tham’s letter:

Parents vs Staff Football Friendly – 24 June 2025 4pm
Parents are invited to join us in a friendly Parents vs SIKG Staff Football Match on
Tuesday, 24 June 2025, from 4.00 pm to 5.00 pm at the school field.
This light-hearted match is a great way to wrap up the academic year together. The
game format will be either 9-a-side or 7-a-side, depending on the number of
participating parents. Ideally, each team should have 10–12 players to allow for
substitutions and rotations.
If you’re joining the Parents’ Team, kindly wear a red jersey or round-neck shirt for
easy identification.
Whether you're playing or cheering from the sidelines, we look forward to ending the
term with energy, teamwork, and community spirit.
Please let us know if you would like to join us, using this form:
