Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
We have had a focus on mental health wellbeing this week at SIKG. Our School Counsellor Ms. Cheryl Kong has led the programme, aimed at raising awareness of mental health and wellbeing issues and crucially promoting the services that are available to support children. The week was packed with events such as the DIY Stress Ball Workshop, Gratitude Wall, and Kindness Bingo as well as informative sessions on Understanding Common Mental Health Symptoms and How to come with Difficult Times.
We would like to wish everyone who is celebrating, a Happy Mid-Autumn Festival.
Influenza Update
I would like to thank parents and students for their prompt action to protect the community from the spread of Influenza A. We had 9 cases on Monday and Tuesday, which were confined to Years 6, 9 and 10. This has been successfully contained thanks to parents keeping symptomatic children home and quickly informing the school so that we were able to take appropriate measures such as informing the local health authority and sanitising classroom.
Staff Training
We have had extensive training for school leaders this week on Crisis Management (e.g. continuity plans for this such as haze and pandemics) as well as safer recruitment and school Counsellor training. All of which helps us to continually improve our fulfilment of
our vision of being a community of safe, happy and successful learners.
Sports Day - Friday October 10th Sultan Suleiman Stadium 7.30 am -12.30 pm
Our annual Sports Day will be on Friday October 10th. Parents are asked to bring their children directly to Sultan Suleiman Stadium for ahead of a 7.30am start. We anticipate the day being complete by 12.30pm and parents are requested to collect children directly from the stadium. The school campus will be closed this day as all school staff will be at the stadium. Parents are welcome to join us at the stadium to support your children. Food and drink will be available to purchase at the venue, but children will need to bring full water bottles, sun hats and suncream and may wish to bring some healthy snacks. Please remember - we remain ‘nut-free’ due to allergies so snacks should not contain nuts.
Important Update on Payment Methods Effective October 2025
We wish to kindly inform you that, effective October 2025, the use of the Credit Card Authorisation Forms will be discontinued as part of an XCL-Malaysia-wide payment policy enhancement.
To ensure a smooth experience, we are pleased to share the available payment options moving forward:
Over-the-counter payment (all major credit cards, including AMEX) Bank transfer Stripe payment via the Engage Parent Portal (Visa and Mastercard only; AMEX not supported). For families using AMEX cards, please note that payments may continue to be made over the counter, as AMEX is not currently supported on the Stripe platform.
We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this transition, which is aimed at providing greater efficiency and convenience. Should you have any questions or require any assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to our Finance Department, who will be happy to help.
Regards,
Rhys Thomas,
Campus Principal
