Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
Congratulations to Year 11, who have overcome the biggest challenge of their IGCSE courses so far with the completion of their Mock Examinations. The Mock Examinations are a trial run of the final assessments, using Cambridge IGCSE past-paper questions and mark schemes to prepare for the final exams. As the students reach the end of the syllabus, they will be supported by their teachers to plug gaps in knowledge and enhance their examination skills, right up until the final assessment series in May and June.
Many of the Year 11 students were immediately whisked away on an exciting and character-building journey to the Cameron Islands, where they will camp out, cook and hike as part of their Eduventurous Duke of Edinburgh International Awards. The children looked eager upon departure from school and well-prepared as they established their first night’s camp yesterday.
Congratulations also to those students who participated in last weekend’s Model United Nations (MUN) AYIMUN Kuala Lumpur Conference. This was a huge event with three hotels in the centre of KL packed with delegates from the region who represented countries from around the world. The children were impressive, displaying their analytical, social, leadership and public speaking skills. It was a joy to see the confidence growing amongst our own delegates, and the programme is something we are intent on growing into a core part of our Extra-Curricular provision over the coming months and years. Well done to Jaanya, Cheng Hin, Ee Hern and Suriati for representing the school, themselves and their allocated nations with such distinction.
Thank you to all the parents and guardians who attended Wednesday’s PGA Coffee morning. There was a positive atmosphere focused on school development, with parents sharing their experiences and suggestions as we continue to build a great school. With a tight turnaround between the meetings and our newsletter deadlines, the coffee morning information slides and PGA Committee Meeting Minutes will be shared next week.
Regards,
Rhys Thomas,
Campus Principal
