Dear Parents and Guardians,
The events this week have started Term 3 off with a bang! The Eco Week, along with Book
Week and the Open House on Wednesday demonstrated the school at its best; a
community coming together to celebrate Hari Raya, the 'Written Word' whilst also
acknowledging our responsibility to the planet. Everyone involved in a small or large way in
the organisation and participation of all these events highlighted in this week's newsletter
should be very proud of themselves!
After launching the Duke of Edinburgh International Award last week, we now have a
healthy-sized group to start the programme and an oversubscribed expedition to climb
Mount Kinabalu!
Also, today, as I write this message, the Year 5 and Year 6 students have returned, all well
but tired from their first residential trip with the school. Congratulations to all for
participating and practising your social, moral leadership and problem-solving skills. I am
looking forward to seeing the photos! (writeup in next week’s edition of the newsletter)
On Wednesday, at the start of the Hari Raya Open House event, I had the pleasure of
introducing Mr. Rhys Thomas, the new Campus Principal from August 2024 to the children.
He had 3 days in the school meeting with teachers and our business support staff on a fact-
finding mission to support his smooth transition into leading the school. He will return in
mid-May for more transition work. As I have said, change is inevitable, and it is how we
adapt to the change that set us apart. On a personal note, I would like to thank the many
parents who have sent kind words and wished me well for my next career journey, moving
to a new organisation and opening an international school in Kuching, Sarawak.
Thank you to those parents who have returned the Parents/ Guardian Group interest
survey. We will collate and then send the invite that suits the most people for the first
meeting.
Next week, we are in full IGCSE and Primary international week mode, so I’d like to say a
huge thank you to the parents who have been in school this week supporting the teachers
in preparing their classrooms for the event.
But before next week, tomorrow we have a School Open Day, and for this in advance I
would like to thank the school ambassadors who will be helping out with school tours and
telling prospective parents all about the school.
I wish everyone a pleasant weekend.
Regards,
April Peters
