Dear Sri KDU Subang Jaya families,
Welcome to a packed, busy, and exciting third term of the year. As ever, we are delighted to be offering our students a wide variety of challenges and opportunities in both academic and non-academic areas and I was pleased to see the large number of students who have taken the chance to join our extensive co-curricular activities programme. As I look forward to this term, I can see that next week is our Book Week and, as a keen reader, I am always delighted to see children engaging with books and literature. I would like to thank Ms. Bolton for her efforts in her role as Primary School English Lead and I know from working with her closely that she is passionate about reading and literacy throughout the school. In my role as deputy head, I was fortunate to be able to see our primary students’ work on poetry for our Poetry Week prior to the holidays and am happy to report that the standard of poetry across the primary school is of outstanding quality. I heard and saw some truly excellent poetry from every single year group in the primary school. Today, in assembly, some students had the opportunity to read their poems aloud in front of the school and they did an amazing job, showing real courage and confidence. It was equally enjoyable to see how the audience were tuned in and listening carefully to the words and the messages that the poems carried.
I wonder what your favourite poem is or who is your favourite poet? How often do we speak about poetry? How many times a week do we take the chance to visit a new poem or revisit an old one? It’s interesting to reflect on why the passion and creativity for poetry that I saw in the primary school and that I enjoyed as a student (all those years ago) seem to be overtaken by other things in our lives that, somehow, feel more urgent. I encourage you to use the links below to take the time this weekend to say no to any pressing matters and seek out an old poem that you loved or to find a new poem that speaks to you in ways that only poetry can.

We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
