Dear Parents,
This weekend Malaysia joins together in celebrating Merdeka, an occasion which invites us
to pause and reflect on the values of unity, resilience, and pride that define Malaysia. For
nearly half of our community, Malaysia is home, and for the other half it is a place of
welcome during periods of study or work; we have the privilege of calling it home for a
short period. Whatever our background, we are fortunate to be part of this vibrant
community, and it is a privilege for our school to embody these values daily through
learning, friendships, and shared experiences.
In classrooms, the new academic year is in full flow. SLT and middle leaders on learning
walks, and teachers in classrooms are reporting high levels of engagement, and students
are settling quickly into routines that support purposeful learning. This week’s CAT4
assessments (completed in years 3, 5, 7, 9 and 10 and with all of our new joiners) have
provided us with valuable benchmarks, helping us to better understand each child’s
learning profile. These insights, combined with our teachers’ expertise, will guide us in
tailoring learning so that every child is supported to reach their potential. Striving for
academic excellence remains central to our mission, and it is encouraging to see the strong
start our students have made.
But our vision for education, as you know, extends beyond examination outcomes. As we
celebrate Merdeka, we are reminded of the importance of character, community, and
resilience. These qualities; confidence, respect, teamwork, and adaptability, are being
nurtured through co-curricular activities which kicked off this week, pastoral programmes,
and day-to-day interactions across the school. It is through this balance of academic
outcomes and holistic growth that we truly prepare young people for the future.
Today, you may be aware from your children, we conducted our first fire drill of the year.
We conduct these termly to ensure students know how to respond in an emergency. I am
pleased to share that the drill was carried out calmly and efficiently, with all students and
staff safely evacuated and accounted for in good time. These regular practices help build
confidence and preparedness across our community. Also on safeguarding and welfare, a
gentle reminder that with our community growing, I would like to remind families of the
importance of safe and considerate driving on campus. Pick-up and drop-off times are busy
moments in the day, and our children are watching us closely. By modelling patience and
responsibility, we not only keep everyone safe but also show our students the kind of
values we wish them to carry forward.
Already this term we have refined routines, adjusted timetables where necessary, and
listened carefully to feedback so that our provision remains strong. These small but
significant changes ensure that the student experience is consistently positive and that our
community continues to thrive. On this Merdeka weekend, may we celebrate the gift of
belonging; to a nation, to a school, and to a community that learns and grows together.
Have a lovely weekend,
Mrs. Cassie Fleming,
Principal,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
