Dear Parents,
We hope that you had a wonderful half term break and Deepavali celebrations.
Year 10 and 11 have already hit the ground running with their Term 1 Assessments,
providing an opportunity for students as well as teachers to track and assess academic
progress. KS3 will be following soon as they start their Term 1 assessments next week. It is
an incredibly important time as they continue to embark on the next chapter of their
studies, and mock assessments are just one of the many steps that they take in helping to
pursue their future studies and career choices.
Many students have shared with me how much they studied during the half term break
which reflects their tenacity and dedication to always wanting to improve. Most of these
conversations involved me responding with, ‘But did you give yourself a break?’ Although
studies are incredibly important, we encourage our students to balance and always allow
time to have a break from studies as it will help them to feel refreshed and not to be too
overwhelmed with revision.
I can remember when I was 16 years old in the UK and used all my breaks and free time in
school to revise, always anxious that I could do one more extra bit of revision to achieve my
goals. Looking back I’m not sure how I managed to do it all! One day my Headteacher
noticed this and reminded me of my school’s motto:
“No one fails when they do their best.”
This slogan still resonates with me today. If we can put our hands on our chest and
honestly say that we tried our best no matter what the outcome is, then we should be
proud of ourselves for achieving this. We applaud our students who also take this
approach; they will never fail if they try their best.
I believe that the philosophy of never failing if you try your best can be applied to many of
our student’s efforts and not just related to assessments. Primary students who have nearly
grasped their multiplication tables, Early Year students learning vocabulary in a new
language, a football team attempting to score a goal that didn’t quite make it, auditioning
for a part in the school production but not getting the main part. It should never be seen
as a fail, but as a moment to be proud for trying your best.
On Thursday evening we were thrilled to host our community event, ‘Halloween
Spooktacular Night!’ which was a huge success. We are very thankful for all support from
our community in ensuring that the event was a thrilling, fun and safe experience for
everyone. A night consisting of fun games, delicious treats in the canteen, Ghost mini golf,
face painting, and an array of amazing costumes that were real contenders for the Best
Costume prizes. We were inundated with amazing costumes which all proved to be very
strong contenders – winners for each category will be announced next Friday.
On behalf of the school, I wish you a wonderful and ‘spooktacular’ weekend!
Have a lovely weekend,
Ms Clare Lama

SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
