Dear Parents
As we move even closer towards the end of Term 1 and the holidays fast approaching, there
have been no pauses in the school planning and organising many events before our last
day of school is Friday 12th December. I can already hear staff and students singing
Christmas songs around the school!
Whenever the school has a busy week of events, we are always reminded of the values we
believe in how we encourage our community to learn valuable skills: teamwork, resilience,
and the determination to keep striving for personal bests. Sri KDU Subang Jaya strives to
offer students meaningful opportunities to collaborate, challenge themselves, and reflect
on how they can continue working hard in all areas of school life. We value and appreciate
you as parents and members of our community, who provide ongoing support and for
reinforcing these values at home.
It’s been a busy week of reports and Parent Teacher Meetings in Primary and Secondary.
Reports are a vital tool in students, teachers, and parents in understanding together each
child’s academic growth, personal development, and how to continue to make progress.
They help students recognise what they have achieved through consistent effort and where
they can continue to improve. We encourage families to celebrate successes together, and
use the reports as a springboard for setting new goals built around resilience and steady
progress. We are proud of students who always aspire to learn more, but also for students
who build up the courage to ask a teacher, “Can I please have some help with my work?”
Parent Teacher Meetings started today and will continue next week. These meetings are
essential for building strong learning partnerships and ensuring that each student is
supported both at school and home. They provide a valuable opportunity to discuss
achievements, challenges, and learning habits in detail. Parents and teachers working
together helps reinforce consistent expectations and encourages students to stay focused,
motivated, and ready to tackle new challenges with confidence.
Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side for the Primary Sports Day, but we look
forward to this happening on another confirmed date after the school break for next year.
We will also announce the date of Sports Day for EYFS-Year 2 as well.
Luckily the sun came out shining for secondary who were able to have their Sports Day at
Panasonic Stadium. We are incredibly proud of the effort and spirit shown by all students.
Throughout the day, students demonstrated outstanding teamwork, determination, and
resilience. Whether competing in events or cheering from the sidelines, they showed
commitment, sportsmanship, and pride in their Houses. These experiences help students
learn to push through challenges, support one another, and celebrate hard earned
achievements - skills that extend far beyond the running track. It was a close race to the
finish line with the Houses competing for points. Points for each House were as follows:
1. Phoenix – 1260 points
2. Dragon – 1251 points
3. Tulpar – 1249 points
4. Griffin – 1222 points
The winning House for Secondary Sports Day (Athletics) is Phoenix. Congratulations!
We are excited to welcome Year 5 parents to our Poetry Reading Celebration. Students will
share the poems they have crafted through thoughtful writing and imagination. Reading
aloud encourages confidence, self-expression, and the courage to present work publicly -
important aspects of developing resilience and communication skills. This event also allows
families to experience firsthand the creativity and dedication students put into their writing.
Next week brings even more exciting events that we are delighted to be hosting in the
penultimate last week of Term 1: Music Gala, Winter Wonderland, Christmas Assembly,
Secondary Awards Assembly. Lots of celebrations!
Thank you, parents, for being an essential part of our school community. Together, we
continue to nurture students to be confident, hardworking, and ready for whatever
challenges lie ahead.
Have a lovely weekend,
Ms Clare Lama
Deputy Head of Secondary,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
