Dear Parents,
Our start to the new term has, as always, been exciting and full of activities, with lots of
opportunities for students, parents and staff to come together.
This week, we continued our Year 9 support for choosing iGCSEs by running our "Why Study
Literature? How to Help Your Child Learn English" workshop. It was very well received by
parents and marked the second of the three workshops planned for Year 9 families. Next
Thursday, we will be hosting the final session, an information evening covering all the
elective subjects we offer.
On Friday, our coffee morning focused on another important transition, moving from Year 6
into Year 7. Students in Years 7 and 8 proudly showcased their work across a range of
subjects to parents and visiting Year 6 students. This gave our primary students a valuable
insight into life in secondary school and how learning develops and changes from primary
to secondary.
Looking ahead, we are excited to share that Mental Wellbeing Week is coming up soon.
Students will be wearing beautifully designed wellbeing themed T shirts, and we have a
range of activities planned for students, staff and parents throughout the week. We warmly
invite families to join us and be part of this important focus on wellbeing.
In line with wellbeing and with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 exams approaching, I would
also like to take this opportunity to remind everyone, students and parents, about the
purpose of assessments. These assessments are not designed to put pressure on students,
and the results do not determine anything on their own. At this stage, assessments help us
understand our students better, identify their strengths and highlight any gaps. They allow
teachers to see where more time and support is needed so we can help students reach their
full potential. They work alongside quizzes, assignments and tasks completed throughout
the term to build a clear picture of each child’s current attainment. While we do encourage
students to prepare, it is important for them to understand that these assessments are not
final. We kindly ask parents to reinforce this message at home, just as teachers do in school,
to help alleviate unnecessary stress and support our students’ wellbeing.
Warm regards,
Ms Maryam Jazayeri,
Head of Secondary,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
