Dear parents,
This week, our focus was on wellbeing, with a series of activities for students during Period 5
each day aimed at enhancing their understanding of mental health and wellbeing. At Sri
KDU, we prioritise the wellbeing of both our students and staff throughout the year and
emphasise this through special themed weeks. This particular week aligned with World
Mental Health Day and Work Wellbeing Day. In the coming months, we’ll be continuing this
focus with more themed weeks, including Kindness Week, Inclusion Week, and Spirit Week,
to name a few.
As part of our ongoing commitment to mental health and wellbeing, we also conducted the
GL PASS survey last week, and the results are truly something to celebrate. Our students
have told us through this survey and their voices that they feel happy and enjoy coming to
school. You can find the detailed results of our PASS survey further down in this newsletter.
In secondary, with exams on the horizon, we’ve introduced a new initiative to support our
students during this challenging period. We have added a "stress management" session to
the exam weeks to help students cope with the inevitable stress and pressure. These
sessions are designed to equip students with strategies to better organize, prioritize, and
plan ahead to manage their time effectively during exam weeks.
Additionally, this week’s coffee morning focused on the various initiatives we have in place
to raise awareness of our students' wellbeing. We will continue hosting coffee mornings in
the coming weeks, with more sessions dedicated to this important topic. You can find the
schedule for upcoming coffee mornings displayed on our reception screens, at the end of
this newsletter, and on our school calendar.
In terms of staff wellbeing, we are equally committed. Today, we held wellbeing sessions for
our staff to help them recharge and foster a supportive environment. We believe in the
importance of continuous professional development (CPD) for our teachers, and alongside
online courses, we are hosting a two-day Cambridge International Education Professional
Development session right here on our campus on 16-17th October, open to interested
candidates across Southeast Asia. In addition to these Cambridge courses, we are sending
our staff to other professional development opportunities throughout the year. We have
also recently sent five members of staff to attend an advanced two-day safeguarding
course, further showcasing our dedication to both student and staff welfare.
Have a good weekend,

SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
