Dear Parents,
It was a pleasure to see so many parents in and around the school this week for our various
events – sports days, graduation ceremonies and parent-teacher meetings and, of course,
tomorrow for the Summer Fair. In my final newsletter piece at Sri KDU Subang Jaya, I would
like to pay tribute to our wonderful community here at school and beyond. I believe that
we should celebrate the diversity and multicultural aspect of our school; it is truly one of
our great strengths. One of the things that gives me the most joy is our mix of people from
many parts of the world and our many languages, backgrounds and cultures that come
together to make up our wonderful Sri KDU Subang Jaya family.
Within a school, there is as much learning that takes place outside of a classroom as within
a classroom and I can see an enormous amount of value in being exposed to people from
all over the world and of many different belief systems, languages and cultures as our
students navigate their way towards becoming global citizens. Working each day with
people from such a wide array of backgrounds is a genuine delight and always an
opportunity to learn how others see the world. As we can sadly too often see in news
headlines, there is a danger in taking one perspective and believing it to be the right way
and thrusting it upon others. There is much more value in engaging in collaboration,
negotiation and discussion and coming to an agreement that benefits the many over the
few. As adults, we experience this each day at work or in other social situations and I am
happy to see our students working collaboratively on projects using the same guiding
principles that serve our global community well. We learn to respect and appreciate the
differing opinions and perspectives around us and, through consideration and compromise,
learn to get along in a harmonious way.
I would like to take this chance to thank all who have made me feel so welcome here over
the last two years and wish the whole community well as the school grows and moves
forward. To those moving on, I hope that you are met with good luck in your new
endeavours and to those remaining, I am confident that the school is in an improved
position to help to guide students on their exciting journeys ahead.
Have a lovely weekend,
Simon Greenhalgh,
Deputy Head of Primary,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
