Dear Families,
With nearly 4 weeks to go until the end of Term 3, we still have many exciting upcoming
events in our calendar before breaking up for the summer holidays. After a great successful
few days with the Primary Sports Day, next week will Secondary Sports Day on Thursday 4th
June. Year 6 will be having their graduation to celebrate their final year of primary as they
embark on their next adventure into secondary. To help them more on this journey, our
Year 6 to 7 Transition programme provided a hands on experience and taste of what it will
be like in secondary. On Friday 5th June will be a Walkathon as part of our Community
Workshop with an invitation for everyone to join.
As we already think ahead for next year, as a school and community we always focus on the
importance of using feedback from students, staff and parents as a reflection of the year.
Feedback and voice are essential in creating a positive and reflective school community.
They give students, staff, and families opportunities to share experiences, celebrate
successes, and identify areas for growth. Effective feedback helps individuals improve by
recognising strengths and guiding next steps, while student voice ensures everyone feels
valued, heard, and included in shaping school life.
As educator John Hattie said, “The most powerful single influence enhancing achievement
is feedback.” By listening carefully and responding thoughtfully, we strengthen learning,
relationships, and wellbeing across our school community. Together, feedback and voice
help us reflect, improve, and celebrate the achievements that make our school unique.
Students we always invited to share their views and opinions with us, as well as complete
Student Voice surveys to help us as teachers reflect on what’s working and how aspects of
the school can be made even better. This has always proved to be effective and impactful
in many of the suggestions shared by our students. Last week we collected feedback from
Year 6 students after spending 2 days in secondary, providing us an opportunity to reflect
on how we helped and what could have made the experience even better. We are
delighted with many complimentary and positive comments provided by the students:
‘The secondary experience was quite fun, and new to me.’
‘I think it was really fun and interesting things I explored and am really excited for next year.’
‘Thank you amazing prefects for helping us around secondary and thank you all teachers for
being very welcoming.’
‘The teachers are always kind and positive! They always make learning easier and fun!’
‘This was a great experience for me. Now I know more about life in secondary. Thank you!’
‘I mostly enjoyed walking around to different classrooms.’
‘Walking to class it was fun and I could see other parts of the secondary.’
‘Meeting all the different teachers because they were all super friendly.’
‘I enjoyed science class the most because the experiments were interesting.’
‘I enjoy being in secondary because it is a very challenging big change. We also learn more
advanced things.’
‘The most helpful thing were the booklets since they provided a lot of information.’
‘I found the secondary booklets and Student Prefects really helpful.’
‘Secondary booklets were most helpful. But speaking to teachers was great too. First time I
couldn’t find my class but secondary booklets really helped me.’
We are delighted with feedback shared and will continue to reflect and improve what can
be done to make the experience even better.
Soon the school will be sharing our annual Parent Survey that we invite all parents to
complete. Parent surveys are an invaluable way for schools to gather to celebrate our
strengths and provide suggestions for further improvement. All surveys completed have
helped provide insight into our parent and community experiences that focus on many
areas such as communication, learning, wellbeing, and school culture. This helps with us as
a school make informed decisions that support everyone, but most importantly our
students. Feedback from previous surveys has helped shape improvements across the
school, strengthen partnerships with families, and guide future priorities. Listening to
parent voice ensures continued reflection, growth, and positive development within the
school community; we invite and welcome all parents to complete this survey.
Please note that the school will be closed on both Monday 1st June (Wesak Day) and
Tuesday, 2nd June (King's Birthday).
Have a wonderful long weekend break.
Warm regards,
Ms Clare Lama,
Deputy Head of Secondary,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
