Sri KDU International School (Kota Damansara) proudly hosted the FOBISIA Rock Climbing 2025 event, in partnership with Camp5, at 1Utama, Kuala Lumpur. Over two thrilling days, 126 talented students from 11 FOBISIA schools from Malaysia, Thailand and Singapore came together to test their limits in a dynamic display of strength, skill, and teamwork.
This event marked Sri KDU’s first time hosting a FOBISIA-level competition, and the school was truly honoured to welcome international student delegates from across the FOBISIA network. Sri KDU International School takes great pride in offering this platform, reinforcing its commitment to sports excellence and providing a stage for students to shine in front of a global audience. FOBISIA, the Federation of British International Schools in Asia, includes over 50 international schools united by a shared dedication to academic and extracurricular achievement.
“We’re extremely proud to have hosted FOBISIA Rock Climbing 2025 here at Sri KDU,” said Raymond Irving, Director of Sports at Sri KDU International School (Kota Damansara). "This event reflects our school’s commitment to offering exceptional sports opportunities. As part of the FOBISIA community, we aim to create platforms for our students to showcase their talents and experience the camaraderie that comes with international competition."
The competition was fierce, with students showcasing remarkable skills across multiple categories. The event saw a total of eight categories for both boys and girls with each category celebrating the top three winners, recognising their exceptional performances and dedication to the sport.
Sri KDU International School (Kota Damansara) had 7 of its own students competing, along with 1 student from Sri KDU International School Subang Jaya, all proudly representing the school on home turf. The event was a fantastic celebration of the core values of FOBISIA: sportsmanship, support, friendship, and fun. Students of diverse nationalities and backgrounds came together to compete and forge new friendships in a spirit of healthy competition.
As an active member of FOBISIA, Sri KDU International School continues to build on its legacy of excellence. The success of FOBISIA Rock Climbing 2025 marks the beginning of a new chapter in the school’s commitment to international sports events. The school is looking forward to hosting more events in the future, expanding participation and welcoming even more students, coaches, and delegates to experience Sri KDU's purpose-built sports and academic facilities and its vibrant community.
“Being part of FOBISIA is a fantastic opportunity for our students. It exposes them to international competition and helps them develop their talents,” added Trevor Spence, Executive Principal of Sri KDU Schools. “We’re excited about the future and look forward to hosting even more engaging FOBISIA competitions in the years to come.”
The FOBISIA Rock Climbing 2025 event not only showcased Sri KDU’s commitment to sports but also emphasized the school’s dedication to creating an environment where students can explore their passions, build lasting friendships, and take on new challenges, both on and off the climbing wall.
Growing up in Sri KDU Secondary School has given me a multitude of skills and plenty of opportunities. Having spent years in an institution that has always pushed for holistic education, focusing on supplementing academics with co-curricular activities has pushed students like me to step out of their comfort zone to really deep dive into our own individual strengths and weaknesses. The many activities and events held in school like Paramount Championships or Performance & Awards Nights have truly supported me to build confidence and step outside of my comfort zone. I am also grateful that beyond the SPM syllabus I had in 2009, I also get to widen my horizons with compulsory classes for Mandarin and ICT which have proven useful today in my career. I believe this has greatly impacted my way of working now, especially in my industry and line of work.
