Dear Families,
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I trust you are all well this week. This is the last newsletter of this half-term with the mid-term break coming up next week: 5th of June, celebrating the Agong's birthday, to the 9th of June. Sadly, some Year 11 students will still be completing their IGCSE exams
during the holiday, so we wish them well for D&T and the remaining Science papers. Please be informed that the cafeteria will not be open during the holiday.
After the holiday we move into the End of Year examinations for Year 7 to 10s and assessments/examination for Primary students. For secondary, all examination scopes and timetable have been released. I do hope that some time during the holiday is taken for rest and relaxation.
As the Year 11s return on the 12th of June, they will undertake a programme to transition from IGCSE to post- 16 courses to further develop their leadership, collaboration skills and have the opportunity to experience some different activities to celebrate their final weeks as the first Year 11 cohort. The Year 11 graduation will take place on Thursday 6th July, and details of it will follow after the holiday.
Today the Debate Championships ended with some fantastic and dedicated performances from both the Primary and Secondary finalists. I was humbled to watch the competition, so a huge “Thank You” goes out to those who attended and supported the rounds and the final. My apologies for not being able to celebrate everyone’s success at the end and thanks, too, to Mr. Tony for stepping in. Well done to the
Secondary Champions: Ho Jern Ee and Tan Qe Yii and to the Primary Champions: Ha Seungwon (Mika) and Charlene Looi. Thank you to Mr Gobi for all his work in organising and running the entire competition.
Today we say goodbye to Mr. Smith who has tirelessly worked to establish the English department for the last three years. We thank him for all his efforts, as I know that several parents and students have also arranged ways in which to thank him. We wish him well as he moves to Europe to take up a Senior Leadership position. This week Mr. John Craig joined the school as the new Head of English, and he has been working with Mr. Smith to ensure a smooth handover. We welcome him as he joins the Sri KDU Klang family.
As we come to the end of the half-term, I would like to thank all staff for their work this half-term and I hope they enjoy a well-deserved holiday. Thank you to all parents for your continued support and finally, thank you to the students who have worked hard in
lessons and participated in special events, ECA's and the 95% of students that participated in at least one CCA.
Finally, a separate email will be sent regarding the parental survey that we will be conducting. This survey is based on a 10-point scale, and only the scores of 9 and 10 will be seen as positive. I hope that parents take this into account when they are scoring us for this whole year, as we look forward to your response. If you have any questions, please do contact the school.
To access the survey, please follow the link provided: https://forms.office.com/r/hgY9xjZDyt
I wish everyone a pleasant mid-term break.
Regards,
April Peters
