Dear Parent and Guardians,
I must start this edition by talking about the hoax bomb threats that many schools
received this week. Fortunately, we were not one of these schools, but our thoughts
went out to those schools affected and empathise with the stress and anguish this has
caused. I spoke to the children on Wednesday about the events and how we all play a
part in ensuring we are all safe and act swiftly when we have to. Internally, Mr Henry,
our site manager has also reviewed our security SOPs and due to our existing
practices, the campus is safe.
This week, many classes had assessments to check on the students’ progress in
preparation for the up-and-coming reports and Parent-Teacher Conference (PTC). We
hope to see many of you present on December 14th at the PTC to discuss your child's
progress and the next steps for further success. Please do bring your child along to
enable them to engage in feedback conversations. This week has also been a full
sporting week, where the medals for the Tele-match event last week were awarded
on Wednesday. We celebrate too, the results from the external Koryo Taekwondo
Competition - well done to all those who took part and congratulations to the medal
winners! Please see below for the writeup. In school, we had the badminton
selections for an up-and-coming tournament. The competition was intense, as
reported by Mr Hafiz. Today (24th November), we have a basketball friendly match
away against Tenby Setia Eco Park. I wish the team luck and success!
This weekend, we will have our Leadership Camp in Janda Baik, Pahang. All students
and parents have been given the packing list and itinerary. Students have been
briefed twice as a reminder of what is expected and been given an opportunity to ask
questions. Please note the itinerary is subject to change due to the weather. I am
looking forward to spending time with our student leaders and seeing how they
handle the different challenges.
Next week: Sports Day on 1st December:
In final preparation for the Sports Day, we will run through the events in a rehearsal done in school on Wednesday and Thursday. On these days, students can come to school directly in their PE uniforms. On Friday, 1st December, the students should be at Klang Stadium (Padang Sultan Sulaiman) by 7:30 am dressed in their PE uniforms. All students should bring the usual outdoor necessities: water bottle, sunscreen, hat/cap, etc. Attendance will be taken by our House Leaders. Meanwhile, for parents, we will have Tele-match races to enable more people to participate, so parents who are interested in joining should register at the stadium on that morning. Please note the
event will begin at 8:00am sharp. Last academic year’s Sports Day held in March was a fantastic event and parents added to this with their participation and support, so I hope to see many of you there to support your child and the school in general.
Move to new cafeteria operator, Delischool from January 2024:
As already informed, we will be moving to a new cafeteria operator in January 2024. There was an opportunity last Friday to hear from the new company, Delischool and taste the food. There were many positive comments from parents and students alike. In order to give more people the opportunity to be introduced to Delischool and explain how the process will work through Vircle, there will be a webinar on Thursday, 7th December at 6.30pm, and a link to it will be shared next Friday. The way that meals are ordered through Delischool will be different to the current system so I do urge all parents to attend. Vircle will also be on the webinar to assist with the switch.
REMINDER: Parental Survey – 27th November to 8th December
The survey will open next week, 27th November and will close on 8th December. I
will send an email explaining the process and how the survey works. We are aiming
for a 70% return rate this time. So, I do urge all parents to complete the survey.
REMINDER: Calling Year 11, Year 6 and Year 9 Parents: Coffee Morning on 8th December from 8:00 am to 8:45 am
Please save the date. I would like to invite all Year 11, Year 6 and Year 9 parents to a Coffee Morning on 8th December. The focus of the session will be Cambridge IGCSE and Checkpoint Examinations. The session will explain the whole process of entries to certificates. Your child's statement of entry for the examinations will also be available at the session and all Cambridge exam related questions will be answered. The formal invite will be sent out on 26th November.
Have a great weekend.
Regards,
April Peters
