Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome back to the new term and Happy New Year. I trust everyone has had a
pleasant holiday.,
This week, we welcomed new students in both Primary and Secondary into the school.
Everyone is settling in well and learning new routines and making friends. This week
the new cafeteria started operation, too. A few issues had to be ironed out, but as of
today all is running smoothly. I have some reminders below and have attached the
menu again in this email. The most important thing is that no child will be left without
food, so if there is an issue, they simply need to tell us and we will ensure they have a
meal.,
On Wednesday, we had the auditions for the XCL’s Got Talent competition. Those with
an iPad had the opportunity to vote for the best performance and the response was
added to the results of the judges. The whole event was planned, organised and
delivered by a very dedicated group of students, which is a splendid example of student
leadership. Well done to all involved, especially the core team: Seh Yee Shian, Lee Wen
Ying and Petrina Jane Ong Ziyen, the event was executed incredibly well.,
Congratulations to all who performed. It is very difficult to judge such a variety of
entries, that said it was great to see how well everyone performed from magic, to
drumming to dancing. I would like to announce those who will be representing the
school in the XCL’s Got Talent at the national level competition, which will take place at
the Kota Damansara Campus on the 4th and 5th of April.,

Late arrival to school,
We have had a number of issues with children arriving late - after 8:45 and not going to
registration in their form room but going to their period 1 lesson. The child then
receives an absence mark and the schools calls parents to ask about the absence. I
would like to therefore stress that all children should be in school before 8:45 and be at
their form rooms or classroom by 8:45am. From Monday 15th January, any child arriving
after 8:45am will need to fill up a late slip before entering school to then ensure that we
can cross check with the form attendance lists.,
Cafeteria Update: Menu enclosed.,
Thank you for your patience this week as we launched the new cafeteria. I just wanted
to remind everyone: It is important that your child brings their student ID card to the
cafeteria to obtain food. We are speaking to the cafeteria about prices and portions to
get things appropriate but the food will remain more expensive than the previous
operator as explained previously in the presentations. The school doesn’t govern the
prices as this is an external vendor. That said, we will run a survey in week 3 to gather
your and the children’s views on the new cafeteria. Please see below for how the
choices and payment works. We are working with our website designer to put the FAQs
and monthly menu on to the website.,
Meal Plan Paid in advance: Once the meal plan is paid, your child will come to the
cafeteria, see the section on offer that day, where there is a table showing the options,
and then go the correct counter (Primary or Secondary) to pick up their meal and tag
out to say they have taken the meal. If they want more, they can simply go back to the
counter. The process is the same for the lunch. There is no choosing a meal on the app.,
A La Carte – Paid daily: For those without the meal plan, your child will come to the
cafeteria, see the section on offer that day, where there is a table showing the options,
and then go the correct counter (Primary or Secondary) to pick up their meal and pay
using their card. Payment is required for any additional items.,
No one goes without food: If your child forgets their student card or has no money on
their card for the a la carte menu, they simply need to inform a teacher or Ms Anis, the
cafeteria manager, and we will ensure your child has a meal that they can pay for later.,
Home-Packed Food; Any parents bringing food in to school for their child, please put
the food bag onto the table labelled HOME FOOD at the first row nearest to the lift in
the cafeteria. Please ensure the food bag is clearly labelled with your child's name and
class.,
Parents' lanyards: Checking in to the campus,
All parents with a lanyard: On coming onto site, please check in by tapping your card
on the black box at the bottom of the ramp. It will beep to say "Your card is accepted.",
Parents without a lanyard: Please report to the security desk for full check in, please.,
Any parents wishing to obtain a parental lanyard: Please submit a passport photo with
your child/children's name to reception and the Registry Department will process your
card.,
Have a pleasant weekend.,
Kind regards,,
