Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope all have had a successful week.
Firstly, I want to apologise and thank you for your patience as we dealt with the
telephone issue of no incoming calls this week. As of today, we have a temporary line
and it is likely to be the number in use until next Friday, 26th January. Please note that
due to the system fault we cannot transfer calls internally. The temporary number is
03-3002 4623.
This week, we had the continuation of the Year 11 mock examinations, the preparation
for Chinese New Year assembly and Mandarin week in full swing, plus we also hosted
and played an international football friendly with a primary school from Taiwan.
Unfortunately, we lost but demonstrated the ability to keep going and keep trying
until the end, so well done, boys and thank you to those of you who came to support.
In Monday’s assembly we will be launching Unifrog to the secondary school students
and parents. Unifrog is a platform to support students make choices about their
futures by giving them the opportunity to find out about themselves and what future
choices might suit them. The platform is a one-stop-shop where students can explore
their interests and find their best next-step after school. The platform holds a vast
amount of information about all career areas with videos explaining the different
careers and how to pursue different jobs by looking at subjects needed and university
entrance requirements. What is quite unique is that parents can also have access to
this portal to support their child in their decision making and their next step planning.
On Friday 26th January, 8:00am to 8:45am, I will be running a workshop in school to
demonstrate the platform and its functions to any interested secondary parents. To
enable us to arrange the venue, please use the link and/or the QR code given in the
image to RSVP for the event, after which we will share how parents can create an
account.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Late arrival to school second reminder.
I mentioned last week that some students are still arriving after 8:45am (the official
start of the school day) and that moving forward we will issue a late slip to ensure that
registration is accurate. Being punctual is an important life skill and is an expected
requirement in the professional world. Some cultures in the world regard lateness as a
rudeness to others. I would therefore urge parents to review their “leaving the house
times” to ensure that “traffic” is not the excuse for lateness.
Parental lanyards: New batch being distributed on Monday 22nd January.
Any parent that has ordered a lanyard and has not collected as yet, please check with
your child on Monday. We have distributed the lanyards to the form tutors or class
teachers for them to give to the children on Monday. Any parents wishing to obtain a
parental lanyard can submit a passport photo with your child/children's name to
reception and the registry department will process your card. For those with existing
photo cards, please place the new blank card behind your existing photocard.
Have a pleasant weekend.
Kind regards,
April Peters
