Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week in Assembly was the closing for Bahasa Melayu week, with the school once
again joining together to sing the Negaraku and recite the Rukun Negara.
Year 6 students were the stars of the opening of Science Week and they taught us all
about the different aspects and careers in Agricultural Science and the impact this has
on our daily lives.
The rest of the week was spent gearing up for the end of year examinations, putting the
final touches to the Technovation Challenge finale to be held on Saturday (18th May),
alongside a STEAM fair and the display and presentation of the first Malaysian rocket
into space. Do come along and join us tomorrow (18 May), as we also have other
schools and universities presenting their STEAM projects.
This morning, I was happy to see the Year 4 students taking part in the overnight school
camp and surviving the ordeal. I witnessed the teamwork and leadership yesterday, as
the sleeping tents were erected.
Also, a big well done to the Badminton Team who played in a tournament last Friday. A
hard-fought competition, which resulted in both our Sri KDU Klang teams getting to the
semi-final but having to play against each other!
Mark a day in your calendar: 28th June. On the back of the fantastic Charity Concert
the students organised at the end of last academic year, we are repeating this event to
raise funds for Teach for Malaysia, by selling tickets this time. We hope that you will
support the children and this worthy charity, and also join me on my last school day to
say goodbye.
Finally, I want to share that a number of parents have spoken or written to me and to
other colleagues about the change in school leadership for next year - concerned
about possible sudden changes in the school with the departures of Mr. Tony and my
own. I would like to quell those concerns, as both Mr. Thomas as Principal and Mr. Tait
as the incoming Head of Primary are experienced leaders. They have, or are still
working within XCL Malaysia Schools. Mr. Thomas, with his visits and discussions with
me, has a sound understanding of the school and its culture and the next steps for its
growth and development. Yes, there will be some changes that are inevitable, but any
changes will be well managed and carried out to improve and enhance learning
experiences with the best interests of the children at the centre of all decision making.
On a personal level, I am actually very thankful that Mr. Thomas is taking the reins, as I
know him professionally and believe that he shares my ambitions for all the children
and staff at Klang to be safe, happy and successful and that all are ready for whatever
the future holds!
