Dear Parents and Guardians,
This week we closed out the Science Week. I really enjoyed the Primary science
fair, talking to the students about their experiment and what they learnt. In the
closing, we had some fantastic closing videos produced by some students,
demonstrating their digital leadership.
In assembly, I introduced the next round of the PASS - Pupil Attitude to Self and
School survey. Each year we will complete 2 surveys of the students, and this
round is the last of this academic year. The questions take between 25 to 40
minutes, and are age dependent, for the children to answer all about how they
feel about their learning, and about themselves as learners. The data is used
internally to get a student profile of each cohort or teaching group.
Last Saturday, we had the Technovation Challenge Finale in school to celebrate
the winners from the different categories. Well done to everyone who took part
and congratulations to the winners, many from Sri KDU Klang. We were joined
by Mr. Anthony Partington, the XCL Malaysia CEO and Ms. Vanmitha, the
brilliant mind behind Malaysia's First Rocketry Team to Spaceport America 2022,
who shared her inspiring journey from being born and bred in Klang to leading
a rocket team. A huge thank you to the Technovation teachers and student crew
for coordinating and making the event a great success.
This week, we had the annual Cambridge International inspection to check that
we are ensuring the integrity of the IGCSE and Checkpoint examinations and I
am very happy to report that all is well with our procedures in school.
Next week, we move into the End of Year examinations. Please ensure that
children are prompt to school to begin examination at 9:00 am. Everyone should
attend each assessment or examination with the correct equipment. The
invigilators will be following Cambridge IGCSE standards.
Another reminder, to mark a day in your calendar: 28th June. The final event of
the year, our Charity Concert! We are hoping to raise RM 15,000 for Teach for
Malaysia – a worthwhile educational NGO that supports schools in challenging
circumstances. This year’s event will be ticket entry based, priced at RM30 and
they will go on sale via form tutors/class teachers and reception from Monday,
27th May. A hardcopy letter was sent via form/class teachers this week. I hope
as a community, we can rally for this cause.
Klang PTA launch: Thank you for the responses. Having collated the data, the
best day is a Wednesday in the morning. As such, I would like to call the first
meeting next Wednesday, 29th May at 8:00 am. The meeting will be to appoint
the committee “officers”: Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and
Treasurer. If you are interested in a role, then please send me your name to put
forward at the meeting. Although the principal will attend meetings or delegate
another SLT member, this is an ex-officio role and cannot act as an “officer”. I
look forward to seeing as many as possible on Wednesday. Venue: Vocal Room.
Please park on campus.
Finally, on Monday, 27th May the second Parental Survey will be launched. An
email will be sent with details and links plus a QR code to access the survey. Due
to limitations with Microsoft Forms when translating to another language, we
will include a Mandarin Translated Sheet to support parents should they need
this.
Wishing everyone a pleasant weekend.
April Peters
