Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
It has been an enjoyable week at school, not least as we are seeing positive
developments from our Tracking the Learning visits. The percentage of students
experiencing good struggle, and therefore optimum learning, is increasing and staff
are in the process of setting challenging targets to ensure that trend continues. I
also had a wonderfully enjoyable meeting with our youngest students this week as
they came to tell me about their school experiences. I am now under strict
instructions to purchase more books for their class! Our older students were busy
preparing their marches for the upcoming Sports Day and seemed to be having a
lot of fun in the process.

get this to you at the end of the preceding term in the future.

Cafeteria Meeting – Tuesday, October 1st 8.45am and Cafeteria Menu for
October
This is an opportunity for parents to hear from Delischool about the provision in
the school cafeteria and also to ask questions and raise any cafeteria-related
matters. Please join us if you can.
In the meantime, attached below is the Cafeteria menu for October:

School Vision Statement
Thank you to those in our student, parent and staff communities who gave
feedback on our proposed vision statement. Following the consultation phase,
more responses were in favour of the draft than had proposed changes and so we
now move forward to ratify the statement at the School Advisory Board meeting on
October the 16th.
SIKG Vision Statement: To be a vibrant, future-minded and international,
community of safe, happy and successful learners.
Mobile phone use is prohibited at school
Please note that the school’s position remains that mobile phones must be placed
in lockers and not used during the school day. While having some undoubted
merits, we believe phones to be, for the most part, a distraction from learning
while also presenting safeguarding risks to children. To those students who have
on occasion made payment at the cafeteria using their phones, please ensure you
have asked your parents to top-up your Vircle cards.
Farewell to Shermen
Although probably less well-known to our students, I am including a farewell to
Ms. Shermen Low here as I know many parents will have spent time with her over
the last year. I have worked with Shermen for less than two months but her
professionalism and dedication to the school have been invaluable in that time and
over her year with the company. We wish Shermen well in her new role. Shermen
is replaced as SIKG Finance Business Partner by Nur Fadzeelah Binti Abd Khalid.
Please join us in welcoming Fadzeelah to the school.
Regards,
Rhys Thomas
Campus Principal
