School Vision: To be a vibrant, future-minded, international community of safe,
happy, and successful learners.
Dear Students, Parents and Friends of SIKG,
We started the week by inaugurating our new student leadership body. These are
impressive young people, led by Alex Sia and Petrina Jane Ong as our new Head Boy
and Girl. As well as hearing from our wonderful new student leaders, the audience was
also impressed and entertained by the student performances. This is an area we wish
to develop through our assemblies this year. Well done to Natalie Gan, Ong Ying Hui,
Nur Zahirah Miku and Swen Seh. Wonderful talents!
We also had our first-ever School Advisory Board meeting this Wednesday. Our parent
board members raised many interesting and thought-provoking questions as they
collectively assumed their role as a new instrument of school governance to challenge
and support the school leadership. Thanks to Ms. Ling Chze Chung, Ms. Jaqueline Tan,
Mdm. Mona Maria, Mr. Ng Wee Chong, Mdm. Quek Ngee Wei for joining me, Mr.
Duncan Grice (BXCL Principal) and SAB Chair and XCL Malaysia CEO, Mr. Anthony
Partington for the meeting.
I had the most fun I’ve had at the school so far on Thursday evening as our young chefs
in the Culinary CCA invited me and Mr. Tait to judge their cooking competition. We had
the arduous task of sampling sausages, eggs, burgers, spaghetti and more. Eating
delicious free food during work time – sometimes you have to suffer for your
profession!
I want to wish our Secondary school students well. They departed for their Leadership
Camp in Melaka this morning with great excitement. We are working on a calendar of
trips for all year groups for the entire year as they are excellent opportunities for
children to expand their boundaries and learn in new contexts.
Term 1 Mid-Term Short Reports
Please keep an eye on your mailboxes at the end of the school day on Monday. All
parents from Year 1 to Year 11 should receive our newly-introduced Term 1 Mid-Term
Short Reports. This will be a simple grade report to share your child’s current academic
levels with you. The main Term 1 report and Parent Teacher Conferences will still take
place at the end of the Term in December but if you have questions from the short
reports, please do get in touch with your class/subject teachers.
Parents Café
Work will start on the installation of our new Parents Café next week. Our reception will
be temporarily relocated to the school library while the work is completed. We hope to
have everything done by Monday, November 4th. Work will also begin on installing
internal lock lines to help guide visitors around the school and enhance the security of
our students.
School Vision and Mission
Following the ratification of the new Vision statement for the school at this week's
School Advisory Board meeting, these are the confirmed vision and mission statements.
They will be reviewed periodically to ensure they still meet the needs of the school
community.
School Vision: To be a vibrant, future-minded, international community of safe,
happy, and successful learners. (confirmed)
School Mission: To empower a diverse and Inclusive community of safe, happy and
successful learners who aspire to positively impact others.
Alumni Association
We are keen to establish our Alumni contact list so that we can start thinking about
Alumni events for later in the year. Could those who have ex-Sri KDU pupils in their
families kindly share this link to assist with the establishment of our Alumni database:
