Dear Families,
Term 2 is proving to be another busy one with swimming Galas, stage productions, Art competitions and Interhouse competitions all taking place simultaneously. Thank you to our families who have generously given up their time to attend the swimming galas this week; we had so many people watch Years 3 and 4 that we needed to arrange extra seating! The main event this week has of course been Lunar New Year and we very much hope that the community enjoyed viewing the celebration assembly online. The children looked splendid in their festive wear and we thank parents for their support in arranging costumes for the event. The campus has looked appropriately colourful with red lanterns and displays in the main reception; thank you to the PTA for arranging this and for the bazaar which has proved most popular with all sections of the community.
For those who are interested in the Zodiac, you will know that we will soon be entering the Year of the Rabbit. ‘Rabbits’ were born in 1927, 1939, 1951, 1963, 1975, 1987, 1999, 2011, and 2023 (and of course every 12 years before this). According to Chinese tradition, Rabbits are the luckiest sign in the Zodiac and are associated with mercy, elegance and beauty. Naturally, many of us like to learn of the positive traits associated with our Zodiac sign (and tend to disregard the less appealing ones), so it will please people with the Rabbit sign that they are attested to be artistic and have excellent taste. As an international community, we also have to take care to recognise that many countries celebrate Lunar New Year in their own ways. Korea, Japan, Mongolia and Vietnam notably take part in festivities at this time. Interestingly, if you were to travel to Vietnam at this time, you would not see many rabbits being displayed as the Vietnamese Zodiac has a cat instead of the aforementioned bunny. Indeed, this Tet will bring forth the Year of the Cat in Vietnam, an animal that is associated with tenderness and kindness, as well as being rather intelligent – and perhaps a little naughty. As with many cultural celebrations, some of the traditions that we so enjoy have contested or unknown origins; in reality, what is more important is that Lunar New Year is an opportunity to congregate, spend time with family and friends and to take just a short pause in our busy lives to reflect and remind ourselves of what is really important – people. In an international community such as our own, one of the pleasures is being able to learn about the heritage of people from other places. Curiosity about the world around us is something we aim to instil in all of our students so that they can become lifelong learners and also savour the rich histories and traditions that can be enjoyed globally. Thank you for all of your efforts during celebration times throughout the calendar year as, not only are they immense fun, but they also help us as a school deliver the holistic education we promise to provide all children.
On behalf of the school, we wish you a happy Lunar New Year and, if you are travelling, a safe journey.
Warm regards and best of health and happiness for 2023,
Best wishes,

We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
