Dear Families,
As we close the door on term 2, it is important we take stock of the progress and achievements we have seen over the past weeks and months. We have seen a plethora of new initiatives from Science fairs to Spelling Bees; inter house competitions and international debating competitions to catwalk opportunities! Our students have taken every opportunity we have provided for them and we are proud to see students representing the school in so many different ways and engaging in the range of activities which have been ongoing. We took a moment as a staff group to celebrate each other before leaving for the holidays, recognising those who go above and beyond in their day to day to allow students the opportunities to build memories and learn outside of the classroom. I would like to take a moment to publicly thank them all for the work they do and for the impact they have on our community. We wish Farlyanna and Azli, members of our admin team who are moving on, all the best, and Sarvina the best of luck in her new journey. We welcome Ms Mimi, Mr Bukhari and Ms Nurzailyn formally after the break.
Over the holidays, the building is expected to be transformed in some areas. Thank you for your patience today with the closure of some car parking spaces where we have started the foundational work for new toilets which are being installed. The books in the library have all been moved in preparation and we look forward to additional CCA spaces and revamped teaching spaces in some areas next term. The holidays provide the time and capacity for works such as these and we know they will make a difference to our students upon our return. Continued investment and improvement in facilities is important, not only to maintain, but to develop as well. We are pleased XCL are supportive of these developments and encourage us to seek new ways in which to improve.
I would like to congratulate Christabel, Year 7 who today won the “Rising Talent, Rising Stars” event following our own internal Sri KDU Stars competition last week. The competition was intense and Christabel, alongside one other student, has now been selected to represent Malaysia in the XCL’s Got Talent in Singapore on 5th May. Christabel showed exceptional talent and showcased exceptional skill. We cant wait to see how she gets on in May and know she will continue to make us proud!
Term 3 promises to be just as intense as term 2 and hopefully, even more fun. We hope everyone takes some time over the holidays to recharge and spend some time with those they love. We know years 11 and 12 will be working hard in preparation for their examinations and we hope the Ski trip students have a fabulous time.
To those celebrating this weekend, we wish you a Happy Easter and for those celebrating in a few weeks, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri
Thank you and have a lovely weekend,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team,
Cassie Fleming
Principal
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
