Dear Families,
This week, our school community truly shone as we came together to celebrate the
powerful themes of spirit, inclusion, and equity. School spirit is the heartbeat of the Sri KDU
campus, representing the collective pride and energy that transforms a building into a safe,
happy and successful place where every student feels they truly belong. Inclusion is the
intentional practice of making that spirit accessible to everyone, ensuring that no matter a
student's background, ability, or identity, they are not just present, but are valued
participants in our shared journey. When we celebrate the diverse spirit as seen not just
throughout this week but via our cultural events, our curriculum and our daily interactions,
we are striving to foster the happiness that leads to academic and personal success.
This philosophy came to life during our themed dress-up days, starting with a minimalist
White Day to symbolise a fresh start and a blank canvas for every student’s potential,
followed by the striking contrast of Black and Bright Day, where we celebrated how our
individual "sparks" stand out even more when we support one another. The energy reached
a peak during Multi-Coloured Day as a tribute to the beautiful spectrum of backgrounds in
our classrooms, and we concluded the week with Design Your Own T-Shirt Day, allowing
every student to express their unique identity and personal story through their own creative
lens. Each outfit worn was a visual representation of equity—recognizing that while we are
all different, we all deserve the same opportunity to shine.
In tandem with these celebrations of identity, we are incredibly proud to announce the
official formation of our Secondary Leo’s Charity Club. As a youth-led branch of the Lions
Club International, this club empowers our students to take the lead in service and
philanthropy. By participating in the Leo’s Club, our students transition from understanding
equity in the classroom to practicing it in the real world, helping to ensure that members of
our wider community also have the support they need to be happy and successful. This
club provides a vital space for leadership development, where students can collaborate on
projects that reflect our school’s commitment to making a positive global impact.
To ensure these values are supported by a solid foundation of protection, our staff recently
dedicated significant time to intensive training on our brand-new safeguarding system. This
sophisticated digital platform is a critical part of our commitment to keeping every student
safe. By streamlining how we monitor and report well-being concerns, the system allows
our staff to intervene earlier and more effectively, ensuring that no student’s struggle goes
unnoticed. This professional development ensures that our teachers are not just educators,
but vigilant guardians of our students' welfare. By combining these creative expressions of
spirit with the structural support of the Leo’s club and these enhanced safety protocols, we
continue to build a school culture where equity isn't just a goal, but a lived experience that
guarantees every child can feel secure, joyful, and ready to achieve.
Warm regards,
Mr David Wilcock
Vice Principal and Head of Secondary
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
