Dear Families,
Term Three has begun with real momentum across the Secondary School, setting a
purposeful and positive tone for the weeks ahead. Our IGCSE examination season is now
underway, with students already completing their ICT papers and speaking exams. Today,
we were pleased to welcome parents to an IGCSE Exam Workshop, where we shared key
guidelines and expectations. These sessions reflect the guidance already provided to our
Year 10 to 13 students over the past two weeks, ensuring everyone feels informed and well
prepared during this important period. These opportunities to work closely with parents
matter greatly. When school and home are aligned, students are best placed to approach
challenge with confidence, clarity, and the right support around them.
As we move further into this year’s examination season, we do so with high expectations,
grounded in the exceptional success achieved by our students in last summer’s Cambridge
International examination series. Those outcomes were extremely strong and continue to
reflect the quality of teaching, the ambition of our students, and the consistency of support
across the school. At IGCSE, 52% of all grades achieved were A*–A, 79% were A*–B, and
95% were A*–C. Particularly notably, 97% of students achieved at least one A*–A grade,
while 10% of our Year 11 students achieved exclusively A*–A grades. We also celebrated
outstanding subject performance, including 100% A* in History, 100% A*–A in Foreign
Language Chinese, and 100% A*–B in both Physics and Drama. Our Sixth Form results were
equally impressive last year. At A Level, 51% of all grades achieved were A*–A, 69% were
A*–B, and 45% of students achieved three A*–A grades. Subject-specific highlights included
100% of A Level grades at A*–A in both Computer Science and Further Mathematics, with
very strong outcomes also seen in Chemistry, Psychology, Physics, and Mathematics.
With this university application cycle, including Edinburgh for Medicine, UCL, King’s College
London, Warwick, Manchester, the National University of Singapore for Medicine, HKUST,
the University of Hong Kong, and the University of Sydney, our expectations this year are
rightly high on upcoming results.
Looking ahead, next week we will also be hosting our parent workshop, Preparing for What
Comes Next: Supporting Your Child Through Sixth Form, A Levels and University Pathways.
This will be a valuable opportunity for parents to better understand the post-16 journey,
including pathway choices, subject selection, university preparation, and how best to
support young people through this important stage with confidence and clarity.
Book Week officially launches next week. Many of you will have already noticed the book
sales in Reception, where students from both Primary and Secondary have been enjoying
the opportunity to browse and purchase new reads. A range of activities is planned
throughout the week, culminating in our much anticipated dress up day, with a fantasy
theme for Primary and a fantasy or classics theme for Secondary.
We will also be holding our Yearbook photo sessions next week. Students have been given
their schedules and are expected to come in, or bring along, their school uniforms for class,
individual, and squad photographs. Secondary students can find all relevant details in their
year group chats and are encouraged to speak with their form tutors should they have any
questions.
It has already been a vibrant and engaging start to the term. Our Year 7 Spy Day was, once
again, a fantastic success, capturing students’ enthusiasm and teamwork. Please do read on
for more details and highlights from Mr Julius. Meanwhile, the Year 7 and 8 Swim Gala
provided a wonderful display of energy, determination, and house spirit, with students
competing enthusiastically and supporting one another throughout the day.
And it certainly does not stop there. We are looking forward to a number of exciting events,
including the Primary Big Sing, the Secondary FOBISIA Music trip to Shanghai, and the
Under 11 FOBISIA Sports in Thailand. Life at Subang Jaya never slows down, with a balance
of fun and serious days, dynamic, and full of opportunity for our students to grow, perform,
and shine.
Warm regards,
Ms Maryam Jazayeri
Head of Secondary
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
SAFE, HAPPY AND SUCCESSFUL
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
