Key Stage 1 Subjects
Year 1 Group Description
In Year 1 at Sri KDU Subang Jaya, we strive to support the transition from EYFS to Primary through a wide variety of fun and interesting topics which the children are keen to explore. Our curriculum is extracted from the Cambridge Curriculum which allows us to return to topics each term in Maths and English to consolidate our learning and expand our subject knowledge as the year progresses. The Cambridge Curriculum for Science allows us to visit a number of exciting themes with lots of opportunities for experiments and hands-on learning. For our Humanities lessons we follow a range of topics covering both history and geography to give the children a broad range of knowledge and to experience a range of interests.
We strive to ensure that learning is cross curricular by including areas such as reading and writing in all capacities of our learning environment and by making sure that there are various opportunities for practical activities.
All learning intentions and success criteria are shared with the children each lesson so they are aware of what it is they are learning and why. These can be adapted to fit with the pace of learning and maintain the engagement of children’s interests. Our goal is to follow the curriculum in a fun, exciting and stimulating way to help the children gather important memories of their early primary years.
Year 2 Group Description
Sri KDU Subang Jaya’ Year 2 curriculum is mapped out based on the Cambridge Curriculum and incorporates the interests of all our students. With the students’ progress and well-being at the centre of our planning, we make sure that skills such as reading, comprehension, writing, speaking and listening are practised ensuring preparedness for moving on to KS2. We aim to make learning fun and engaging to create a holistic environment.
Our dedicated team ensures that basic foundation skills like spelling, letter and number formation, neat presentation and basic numeracy are encouraged. We provide high quality opportunities for cross-curricular learning to develop creative thinking and problem solving skills.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
