Primary Education: KSSR Curriculum
Malaysian National Curriculum (KSSR)
Sri KDU Kota Damansara Private National School offers the Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Rendah (KSSR) syllabus from Primary One until Primary Six.
As part of the KSSR syllabus, Mandarin is a subject within the curriculum from Primary One to Primary Six. It is taught at three levels – Basic, Intermediate and Advanced.
Mathematics and Science are taught following the KSSR Syllabus. This is further enhanced by incorporating the Singapore and Cambridge Curricula.
Enhanced Curriculum
Cambridge & Singapore Curricula
The Cambridge Primary Science Curriculum is the basis for both the lower and upper primary levels. This syllabus covers a wider range of topics in greater depth compared to the national KSSR syllabus, including additional subjects not covered by the KSSR. At the lower primary level, a foundation in scientific concepts is embedded through engaging hands-on experiments and inquiry skill-based tasks.
The Singapore Mathematics Curriculum is adopted in the lower primary and the Cambridge Primary Mathematics Curriculum in the upper primary. These curricula fully cover and expand upon the national KSSR syllabus. The Singapore Curriculum uses a thematic approach to connect everyday life experiences with Mathematics, building a strong mathematical foundation for students as they progress to upper primary levels.
The Singapore International Curriculum is used in the lower primary level and Cambridge English Primary Curriculum in upper primary level. Students master the language through the reading, writing, listening and speaking components. The Singapore International Curriculum introduces advanced comprehension and writing skills, preparing students for excellent grades in assessments. As students progress to upper primary, they learn to write stories and speak confidently in public through class activities.
Mandarin
Mandarin is a compulsory subject for all students. Students are placed in 3 different levels (Basic, Intermediate or Advanced), appropriate to their aptitude and level of proficiency in the language. The language is taught by trained Mandarin specialist teachers using both international and national KSSR syllabus texts.

Children need 21st-century skills to succeed in the ever-changing information era. Here at Sri KDU Primary School, we go beyond traditional education with STREAM, a curriculum that builds upon STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Maths) by integrating Arts and Literacy.
STREAM education at Sri KDU Primary School empowers students with vital 21st-century skills like collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This holistic approach equips them to not only excel academically but also apply their knowledge to real-life situations, fostering future leaders and critical thinkers.
Our two-phase programme ensures a strong foundation. Phase one focuses on soft skills like computational and design thinking. In phase two, students delve deeper through project-based learning (PBL), tackling problems and conducting inquiries using STREAM principles. This hands-on approach ensures lasting knowledge and prepares them for the challenges ahead.
Computer Science & Literacy
Sri KDU Primary School continues to break new grounds in adaptive technology and in enhancing regular classroom instructions through the school’s eLearning initiative. Computer Science teaches young children essential computational thinking skills which leads them to critical thinking and problem solving, communication, collaboration, creativity and innovation abilities. Computer Literacy is about the proficient and safe use of computing hardware and software. Pioneering in its approach, Sri KDU introduces coding as early as primary level, seamlessly integrated into regular computer lessons.
Each course begins with a grade-appropriate entry point and structured ramp-up of concepts. Each course builds upon the previous one, ensuring a smooth progression for students, regardless of their prior experience, fostering a continuous interest in learning. This allows the school to use the same course at any grade level for all students, regardless of their experience.
