With two weeks remaining, in this, the longest term of the year we take stock of the progress your children have made with the release of academic reports next week which will identify the areas we would like to celebrate and those we will continue to support into January. We also look forward to primary and year 7 parent-teacher meetings which will go ahead next week where we can meet to discuss these reports and the way the year 7 have settled into their secondary education. Details of the method of sign up have been shared with primary parents today, and will be shared with year 7 parents on Monday.
This week in the secondary school we have enjoyed an incredibly successful start to our wellbeing weeks, students have engaged in lively debate, have discussed the implications of emotional wellbeing and have participated in a range of activities designed to create laughter, promote teamwork, and develop confidence. The teaching team have continually been impressed by the emotional maturity of our students and their ability to express their ideas and understand the perspective of others. Next week, we continue with our focus where we will discover motivation, share our talents and encourage our students to find fun in the ordinary. The ideas for well-being week have all come from the secondary student council and they have designed many of the activities. The House Captains have also supported this initiative with a range of house competitions which we will continue to compete in next week too. An initiative like this
does not work without incredible staff support and an attitude from the students to get involved. A huge well done to all. To continue this into the weekend, why not try something new by visiting a World renowned museum https://www.timeout.com/travel/ virtual-museum-tours (Year 8 would recommend the British Museum, The Tate, London, and the Musee D’Orsay in Paris from their adventures this week!) Or try listening to another person’s perspective through: https://www.ted.com/talks . We also have a range of forums coming up with the support of the PTA before the end of term, to promote wellbeing.
Preparations for a year 2 Christmas performance in the online end of term assembly are well under way and our staff welfare team have begun their 12 days of Christmas to promote staff welfare.
We were joined last night by over 100 families on zoom; Mr Partington shared the schools intention to open upon the relaxation of the CMCO and we answered a range of questions from the parent community. Your continued support is much appreciated and never before have the links between school and home needed to be so strong. With the news of the extension to the CMCO not released at time of this newsletter publication, we wish you a happy, and safe weekend and regardless of the announcements expected today, we will see you all (virtually at the very least) on Monday.
Have a great weekend!
Best wishes,
Cassie Flemings
Head of Secondary
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
