Dear Families,
The momentum of the term is at its peak with multiple events simultaneously and seamlessly ongoing; allowing us to fulfil our promises to you as families.
Top Academic outcomes
Across the school this week, assessments have been ongoing. Mock examinations for years 10 11 and 12 are following a closer model of rigour to that of Cambridge International to ensure preparation familiarisation to the process they will face in April and May of this year. Assessment is an important ongoing process where we measure both progress and attainment. Progress is key to us at this point in the year where we look at what is next in our learning and what needs to happen still. Learning is a journey and it is vital we have an understanding of where we are in this journey to ensure we still see what is to come.
Continuous Improvement
Mr Tait spoke to our community this morning about our visit from Cambridge International Trainers last week who have been providing ongoing professional development for the Primary teaching staff. This training gives us an external measure of development of our teaching and learning and external validation of our internal quality assurance process to ensure we are teaching with the skill expected. On going professional development is crucial for our continued development as a school and we are keen to ensure our teaching team have the chance to do these. We have been taking advantage of our AIMS and FOBISIA accreditations to provide these opportunities and are in the final stages of an application to join CIS which will enhance our provision and opportunity further to our teachers.
Welfare and Safeguarding
Our Secondary student council have embraced a new project of improving the toilets onsite. Open discussions about how we make these more pleasant and welcoming have been ongoing and the council have initiated a number of small purchases to make small improvements inclusive of plants, boxes and air fresheners. These small improvements ensure student voice is captured and heard and students are allowed to have an impact upon their environment. Wall stickers are to come and we look forward to the student council getting these minor adjustments in place in the coming weeks after assessments.
Holistic character development
This week we have had numerous sporting fixtures; very good luck to students competing tomorrow in one of the Big 3 AIMS Athletics event at KLASS; and well done to those involved in both swimming and football this week! We have also launched our Sri KDU Stars talent competition and can’t wait to see entries from across the school. We have an array of talent and look forward to it being on display.
Future proof preparation
Giving something a go is an integral part to a successful learner and year 5 certainly embraced this and faced their fears on Thursday of this week on their trip to ESCAPE. From ‘Monkey Business’ to ‘Geko Tower’ and ‘Coco Climb’ students embraced the challenges and opportunities available to them. They returned happy but tired on Thursday afternoon. Providing learning outside of the school environment is one we feel privileged to be reembracing as a school after so long and allows students to learn in ‘real life’. With upcoming drama and art trips in the pipeline for the secondary and further primary opportunities coming, we can’t wait for what is to come!
Finally, we embark upon the process of appointing a Head of Secondary next week and, again, would welcome parental involvement. If you would like to form part of the parent interview panel, please reach out to me directly so I might include you in a ballot (if we have enough interest) Thank you in advance for putting yourself forwards. Final interviews for this role will take place on Friday 17 February in the morning.
Have a lovely, long weekend.

On behalf of the School Leadership Team
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
