Dear Families,
As we enter the month of December, you will notice that the campus is looking very ‘Christmassy’ (which is a proper word, as any Primary School student will confirm) with festive lights, decorations and trees adorning the main areas of the school. Apart from looking pretty, The Fugee School Wishing Tree has been the focus of a charity drive to help support refugees currently located in Malaysia. As with so many of our projects linked to annual celebrations, all members of our community have joined together with generosity and kindness in order to organise gifts for children and young people who are facing tough challenges associated with relocation due to circumstances beyond their control. All children have the right to be safe, happy and receive and education and, while we cannot completely transform their circumstances, the presents that have been purchased by our families will equip children with wished for learning resources, sports equipment, technology and musical instruments to allow them to pursue their interests and develop their talents. Thank you for compassion and kindness which will no doubt bring delighted smiles to many faces.
We may be in last stretch of what has been a marathon Term 1, however the pace of events taking place is actually accelerating as opposed to easing off. Thank you to Ms Martin, Assistant Head of Primary School, for running an informative parent forum on Protecting Children Online on Thursday. Gratitude is also extended to Ms Shahiraa for facilitating the launch of Zumos, which is an online platform that supports resilience and mental well-being among children; more details will be shared in the first Coffee Morning in January. Please also be reminded that Term 1 Reports will be released whole school on Monday 5th December, followed by Primary School Parent Teacher Meetings on the 6th and 7th. For Primary Languages, the students will take part in “Fun with Languages” next week during timetabled classes. Educational learning games will offer a fun-filled, relaxed environment where children can practise using new words and will feel free to express themselves. In PE, Year 2 – 6 will be having their end of Unit Interhouse Competitions next week which will bring to a close the wide-ranging series of Primary Interhouse Competitions for Term 1.
The main end of Term 1 event will be the Christmas Assembly Concert which will take place next Friday morning. You will have received an email with the event details but to summarise:

We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
