Dear Families,
As we approach the full moon in the Tamil month of Thai, we welcome a period in the school calendar which always promises to be one of the peak points of academic endeavour, with our students settled into a routine of fast paced, exciting learning.
This week has met expectations with lots of opportunities for our students to excel themselves in all walks of school life, from lessons to mock exams, Sports Moderation events and Maths Challenges, the list goes on.
Very often at school “giving it a go” is so important in finding and discovering areas of passion and interest. We encourage this in all our subjects, and it was particularly pleasing to see the Year 9s, 10s and 11s getting out of their comfort zones and participating in the UKMT Intermediate Maths challenge on Wednesday. It is events like these that allow our students opportunities to stretch their thinking, become more resilient, and marvel at the intricate world of problem solving in the purest sense. Well done to all those that participated and to Mr Zaman and the Maths Department for their hard work and support!
Last Friday we introduced another exciting opportunity for our students with XCL Academies starting at Sri KDU Subang Jaya in the coming weeks. The XCL Academy is an exciting programme of sports and activities which launches on 13th February 2023. The Academies will provide children with specialist coaching, training and competition to further their skills in the sport of their choice with sessions taking place during evenings (4.15-5.45pm) and weekends, conducted only by highly qualified and professionally trained coaches.
XCL Academy programmes are interactive, and each stage of our curriculum builds progressively by offering new skills and unique challenges with the target of achieving elite performance from our students. The curriculums, designed with a comprehensive understanding of child development and physical ability, are continuously being improved with the latest input from sporting experts and experienced coaches. The slides from the parent presentation can be found attached and the website for bookings and further information can be found here. Sri KDU Students are entitled to a 10% discount by applying the coupon ‘SKDU10’ at the checkout.
“Don’t call me good! I’m the scariest creature in this wood. Just walk behind me and soon you’ll see, everyone is afraid of me.” Our brave Year 4C students took on a challenge of their own and showed no fear as they performed the Gruffalo to parents this week. Thank you to all of the parents who have given up their time to support, from providing costumes to supporting with the children with learning their lines. The performances will continue next week for the rest of Year 4, and videos of the play will be sent out to parents by Ms. Bolton for anyone who was unable to attend.
The PE department have been busy planning residential and sports trips for our students to experience competing against children from other countries and cultures. Students from our Swim Team returned from the FOBISIA Swimming invitational which took place in Bangkok last weekend. This incredible event saw 3 days of swimming competitions, with over 750 students from across Asia. A massive well done to Chong Jun Hong, Itto Horiuchi, Lim Jie Lin, Malika Aminova and Chong Sinyi for their incredible efforts representing Sri KDU Subang Jaya in our first ever International Swimming Competition!
Finally, our Year 11 students demonstrated great leadership qualities in a mentoring session with the Year 9 cohort today. This event gave our Year 9 students insight into the experiences that the older students had during their time in their IGCSE courses, providing an opportunity for discussion and questions to allow them to make informed decisions about their options.
We wish those in our school community who are celebrating this weekend a happy Thaipusan, may you be blessed with happiness and good health!
Best wishes,
Joe Bently

We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
