Dear Families,
We hope this newsletter finds you well. We have some important updates to share with you regarding upcoming events and the safety measures we have in place during hot weather.
Parent Teacher Meetings:
We would like to remind you that the Primary School Parent Teacher Meetings will be held next Monday and Tuesday between 3:30pm and 5:30pm; CCAs will run as normal with cover staff being put in place where required. This will be an excellent opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress and address any concerns you may have. We kindly request that families consult the guides that have been sent out to book an appointment. Class teachers have sent out today details of which time slots are for physical meetings and which are online. The sign up window will be from 3:00pm today to 8:00am on Monday.
Release of Reports:
We are pleased to inform you that school reports will be released on Monday for the entire school. These reports provide valuable insights into your child's academic and overall development. Please review the report carefully and discuss it with your child, celebrating their achievements and setting goals for the upcoming term.
New Staff Biographies:
As we look forward to the start of the new academic year, we would like to introduce several new staff members who will be joining our school in September. Please kindly find below staff biographies which we hope that you will find informative. We are excited to welcome these talented professionals to our school community and are confident that they will contribute positively to the education and well-being of our students.
CCAs:
Please kindly be reminded that next week is the final week that the full CCA programme will be running.
Safety Precautions During Hot Weather:
With the heatwave continuing, it is important to ensure the safety and well-being of our students during hot weather. Here are the precautions we have in place:
Temperature Monitoring: We closely monitor the weather conditions, and if the temperature exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, students are not permitted to take part in outdoor activities. On extremely hot days, when the weather exceeds 35 degrees Celsius, we keep the students indoors during lunchtime to protect them from the heat. This ensures their well-being and prevents the risk of heat-related illnesses.
Hydration: We encourage students to drink plenty of water throughout the day. It is essential for students to stay hydrated, and we provide regular reminders to drink water during classes and breaks.
Sun Protection: To safeguard our students from harmful UV rays, we encourage them to wear sun protection hats and apply sunscreen before going outdoors; for younger children, applying all day sunscreen before coming to school is most helpful. These measures help prevent sunburn and promote sun safety awareness.
Rest and Shade: Our duty teachers are vigilant and actively monitor students during physical activities. If a student looks like they may become overheated, they are instructed to take rest in a shaded area to cool down as a precaution.
Modification of Physical Activities: During hot weather, certain physical activities like football may pose a higher risk. Our duty teachers make informed decisions and may modify or temporarily stop such activities to ensure the well-being of the students.
The safety of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your support in reinforcing these precautions at home as well. Please be assured that next week’s Walkathon will be very closely monitored in terms of health and safety.
Thank you for all of your support during this busy end to Term 3.
Have a wonderful weekend,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team,
Graham Tait
Head of Primary
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
