Dear Families,
As we prepare to celebrate Malaysia day officially on Saturday 16th September, whereby we
recognise and embrace the importance of the unique religious, cultural, and linguistic
diversities of the people of Malaysia, let me reflect on and celebrate the diversities that we
have shared at Sri KDU International School, Subang Jaya this week.
Our school is more than just a place of learning; it is a nurturing ground for future leaders,
thinkers, and innovators. It is a place where students from different backgrounds come
together to learn, grow, and thrive. Our school represents the very essence of Malaysia,
where unity in diversity is not just a motto but a way of life.
Malaysia Day is a day to celebrate tolerance, acceptance, and the spirit of unity. It's a day to
honour our differences, recognizing that they make us stronger and more resilient as a
community.
This week has seen our Year 11 business students, plan and execute a wonderful food
carnival that was a huge success, where staff and students enjoyed the delicious delicacies
on offer.
Today students also had the opportunity to participate in traditional games such as Chinese
Chess, Ceper, Congkak, Batu Seremban and Carom. Outdoor games offered were Teng teng
(Hopscotch), Getah, Galah Panjang and martial arts such as Silambam and Silat.
The day culminated in a spectacular assembly, led by our students. The assembly consisted
of traditional performances by our students, as well as external performances from a Silat
team, a Silambam team and a cultural eastern dance group who performed an Iban dance.
Sports continue to be one of our many strengths, where our students thrive at being part of
a team and enjoy the challenge of competitive matches/galas etc. This week has seen the
start of our sporting fixtures, with our O15 Boys Football team who travelled to play in an
AIMS tournament at AISM. We look forward to next week when our O15 Girls Volleyball
Play an AIMS Tournament at Sunway and the O15 Boys Volleyball play an AIMS Tournament
at ACE Arena.
As well as the sports and the arts I am always impressed to see so many opportunities for
our students to develop and showcase their talents and for us as a community to celebrate
that we all have different interests and strengths.
The Bufori project has started with a total of 30 children attending in two different groups.
The two teams have been busy deciding on their team names and designing a logo. Each
team has been discussing what makes an effective team and all members have had a
chance to select one area of responsibility in the project, something that we believe
enhances our students’ leadership skills. The groups eagerly await the delivery of the parts
to build the car. I look forward to following the groups progress over the coming weeks.
Secondary students currently have the opportunity to participate in a Comic Book
Competition which is a lovely way of seeing students use both English and artistic talents as
well as computer skills.
As well as all of the culture, sporting and artistic events we celebrate, which promotes our
mission of SAFE, HAPPY and SUCCESSFUL students, our academic progress and success is
obviously our main priority.
We are pleased to say that the CAT4 assessments (Cognitive abilities test) have been taken
over the last two weeks in school; the results will be shared with parents by the end of next
week via Engage. These results are imperative to ensure that students and their teachers
understand how they learn and what their academic potential might be. It assesses how
students think in areas that are known to make a difference to learning. Then as a
partnership between you the parents, your children and our teachers we can make a
personalised learning plan for each individual student. I look forward to sharing this
important data with you next week.
Thank you for your continuous support and for entrusting your children's education to us.
We are proud to be a part of a diverse and inclusive community that celebrates the
uniqueness of each individual. Together, let us continue to foster a safe, happy, and
successful environment for our students to thrive.
Selamat Hari Malaysia!
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team,
Katherine Beadle
Head of Secondary
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
