Dear Families,
As we continue our journey through this term, the past week in school has been a true
testament to the power of practice, determination, forward thinking and the unwavering
commitment of our students and support of our parent community. As we celebrate
achievements and opportunities which have been available this week, I am reminded of the
wisdom captured in the words of Vince Lombardi: "The only place success comes before
work is in the dictionary."
Holistic Character Development
This week's sporting achievements serve as a reminder that the values instilled through
sports: commitment, discipline, and perseverance are integral to development as well-
rounded individuals. It is through these experiences that our students learn the importance
of resilience and the rewards of pushing themselves beyond their limits. Our young athletes
have been on fire this week, showcasing their talents and grit on the court. From the
Under-9 basketball to the Under-19 volleyball teams last weekend, it's evident that hard
work and dedication have borne fruit. The hours of practice, the early mornings, and the
moments of pushing through fatigue have culminated in significantly improved
performances.
It is important to us that our students have the opportunity to shine, not just in the
classroom but in every endeavour they pursue. To further reinforce this, I would like to
extend my congratulations to our young musicians who have performed in the last two
Friday morning coffee-mornings; showcasing their talent and also endless hours and
perseverance it takes to be a successful musician.
Future Proof Preparation
In our ongoing commitment to provide the best opportunities for our students, we were
delighted to welcome representatives from 53 Russell Group universities to our school for a
university fair on Wednesday of this week. This event has opened doors to a world of
possibilities, where our students can dream big and aim high. As we engage in
conversations about their future, we aim to guide year our eldest students toward making
informed decisions about their education journey. Among the exciting discussions, we have
initiated conversations about A-levels with year 11, often regarded as the gold standard of
post-16 education. This marks an important step in preparing our students for a future that
demands not only academic excellence but also adaptability and critical thinking.
Welfare and Safeguarding
Thank you to the PTA who have initiated selling pink ribbons in support of the National
Cancer Council (MAKNA) from today. They will be selling these for the whole month in our
reception area. It was lovely to be joined by so many community members this morning in
our ‘walking pink’ initiative to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. Taking a stroll around the
park was a pleasure and a lovely way to spend the first part of our Friday morning. This
week we have also offered free optional health checks for our entire community,
emphasizing the importance of proactive well-being. Again, it has been excellent to see so
many of our community engage with these initiatives.
Finally, I would like to thank the parents of 3B who have shared such empathy with Ms
Naina, we wish her all the best with her little one and will see her soon.
Continuous Improvement
Finally, we have had an overwhelming response to our Halloween family night on the 27th
October and already expect over 100 participants! This event reflects our dedication to
providing a diverse and enriching experience that extend beyond traditional boundaries. It
promises to be a fun occasion for those who would like to get involved, fostering creativity
and community spirit.
As we look ahead to the future, let us remember that success is the result of hard work,
determination, and a commitment to continuous growth. Together, we will ensure that our
students are not just prepared for the future but are ready to shape it with confidence and
excellence.
Warm regards,
On behalf of the leadership team,
Cassie Fleming
Principal
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
