Dear Families,
As we approach the mid-term break, marking the halfway point in our academic calendar, it's a time to reflect the progress made across our school community. To deliver our promise of continuous improvement, it is essential that we pause at times to allow for reflection and the chance to celebrate our successes and identify aspects that we want to focus our attention on improving. Our students and teachers have shown dedication and resilience, striving for excellence in both academics and personal growth. Let's use this break to acknowledge our achievements and the lessons learned as we plan for the rest of the school year.
This week saw a flurry of red and gold across the school as we began our Chinese New Year celebrations, with the building decorated wonderfully and our students wearing an impressive array of traditional attire. We seized a rare opportunity to hold a whole school celebration, starting with a captivating Lion Dance on the school field, followed by a lively assembly led by our Languages Department and student MC’s. The event showcased traditional Chinese culture, highlighting our community’s diversity and inclusivity.
Our first international trip of the school year took place last weekend, with our Swim Team attending the annual FOBISIA Swimming Championships at Thanyapura, Phuket. The Team showed a significant improvement from last year and secured the top ranking of all schools in Malaysia and 4th place overall out of 1400 students and 34 participating schools. Congratulations to all team members and the swim coaches for their efforts, a truly remarkable achievement and a symbol of the dedication to the sport, with the early morning training sessions, regular competitions and on-going commitment to continuous improvement. Our Director of Swimming, Coach Adrian, has written a report below which includes further outstanding team and individual accolades.
We would like to express our gratitude to the Year 9 and 13 parents who joined us for this week's Parent-Teacher Meetings. Your active participation and engagement in your child's education are greatly appreciated, and we value the opportunity to work together in supporting their academic journey. Looking ahead, we are preparing for the Year 11 Parent-Teacher Meetings at the end of next term. These will take place on the 1st-2nd April; however, as always, you are welcome to schedule meetings with subject teachers whenever needed. This ‘open door’ policy also applies to the Primary School. Primary Mini-Progress reports go out on the 22nd February and those who wish to book an appointment with the teacher can do so at any time.
This year marks the arrival of the Year of the Wood Dragon, a unique event that happens once every 60 years. This special occurrence signifies renewal and opportunity, representing growth, strength, and good fortune. Let's embrace this year's significance and use its energy to pursue our goals and objectives.
As we enter the Chinese New Year break, I extend warm wishes to all celebrating this occasion. May it be filled with joy and prosperity, and may you enjoy precious moments with family and friends.
Wishing you a rejuvenating break and a Happy Chinese New Year!
On behalf of Senior Leadership Team,
Joseph Bently
Head of Enrichment & Wider Learning
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
