Dear Families,
It has been another busy week for our school community, with six exciting trips taking
place, science fairs, sports fixtures and much more. Our Year 4 students had the opportunity
to immerse themselves in the world of performing arts at the PJ Performing Arts Centre,
while our Year 3 adventurers had a wild time meeting a fascinating array of animals at the
99 Wonderpark. Meanwhile, our Year 6 students visited Discover Native, where they worked
alongside the Orang Asli community learning about sustainable living and our Year 8 trip
saw our student learning trekking and survival skills in Janda Baik. As if that wasn’t enough
excitement, our Ski Trip participants are gearing up for an unforgettable experience as we
depart for Switzerland today.
Top Academic Outcomes
We are delighted to highlight the exceptional performance of our students at the Science
Fair hosted by the Alice Smith School on Thursday. Led by Ms. Tine, our students
showcased their scientific prowess, earning accolades for their amazing projects. With a
total of three out of four prizes, it's a testament to the hard work and commitment of both
our students and staff.
As we come to the end of the Mock Examinations, this period of intense preparation and
assessment is a crucial milestone in our students' academic journey, providing them with
valuable insights and feedback to guide their ongoing learning. We commend all students
for their diligence and perseverance during this challenging time.
Holistic Character Development
As we begin our planning for Term 3, we're excited to announce the planning phase for our
co-curricular activities and upcoming trips. These endeavours play a crucial role in fostering
holistic character development among our students as was seen in the fantastic experiences
on the trips this week. In the weeks ahead, we'll be sharing details about the Term 3
activities and trips on offer, providing opportunities for students to explore their interests,
talents, and passions outside the classroom.
Welfare and Safeguarding
We kindly remind all members of the school community to ensure they wear their ID
badges while on school grounds and to adhere to our guidelines regarding the use of
phones and photography, particularly refraining from taking pictures except during
designated assembly times.
Ensuring the welfare and safety of our students is paramount, and we remain committed to
providing a safe environment where every individual feels valued, respected, and protected.
Please be advised that Maryam Jazayeri is our Designated Safeguarding Lead for the
school.
Continuous Improvement
Our participation in events such as the Science Fair not only showcases the talents and
capabilities of our students but also provides valuable opportunities for growth and
learning. Through hands-on experiences and real-world applications of knowledge, our
students develop critical thinking skills, problem-solving abilities, and a passion for
discovery. In the newsletter below, you will find detailed reports from the fantastic
achievements of the Science Fair, along with the successes in sport and other areas of the
school as we continue to strive for improvement in all areas of student development.
Future Proof Preparation
Today's secondary assembly featured an enlightening panel discussion led by our sixth form
students, centred around International Women's Day and the theme of women in
leadership. This thought-provoking session provided an invaluable platform for discussions
surrounding the role of women in leadership positions across various sectors. As we
continue to build future leaders within our school community, initiatives like these are
instrumental in equipping our students with the knowledge and perspective needed to
thrive in a diverse and inclusive society.
On behalf of all at Sri KDU Subang Jaya, I would like to wish you a wonderful week ahead.
Joe Bently
Head of Enrichment & Wider Learning
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
