Dear families,
It is hard to believe we are concluding our second week of this term already! Despite it only being week two, we have formally celebrated Hari Raya, launched a month long book festival, had two sets of parents evenings and embarked on the process of conducting our formal written IGCSE, AS and A Level papers!
In todays World, we are bombarded with information from all angles and we understand that there is immense value in seeing things with our own eyes and experiencing things directly. While it's important to listen to the perspectives of others and consider different viewpoints, there's an authenticity that comes from witnessing events firsthand and forming our own conclusions based on our observations. Ms Maryam last term launched a new Secondary initiative with HODs and Teachers where our students are given the opportunity to showcase their work and their lives in the school. Today, a number of parents took another opportunity to learn directly from Year 7 both what they study and also what it is like to study in the secondary school. This week, admittedly when I was mindlessly scrolling my social media, I re-came across a poem by Chanie Gorkin. It is one you might be familiar with as it starts with the declaration, "Today was the absolute worst day ever," yet concludes with a profound twist: "Now read from bottom to top." This piece serves as a reminder that sometimes, the most powerful insights come from experiencing things for ourselves and drawing our own conclusions; the power of perspective is crucial. A reminder that if you have queries or questions, the school are generally best placed to answer these to ensure you get the support you need. Please just reach out to the team. Both Harry Potter and Percy Jackson teach valuable lessons about the importance of seeing beyond the surface to uncover the truth. We hope this newsletter each week gives you an insight into the school and showcases our happy community.
I would like to wish children involved in the BIG Sing this weekend the very best of luck, and the same to our athletes competing in our jointly hosted AIMS Athletics events tomorrow. Thank you to the staff and parents involved in these events whom make them memorable and a success for our students. And to our year 6 who join the secondary school for lessons from next week, we are sure you will love it!
Have a lovely weekend,
Cassie Fleming,
Principal,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
