Dear families,
We have had another incredibly busy week following such a fabulous weekend of performance in our Annual Production, Peter Pan. It would be remis to not start today’s introduction without a huge congratulations to all involved in Peter Pan; from cast, crew, parents, admin, and audience. It was a privilege to watch all three nights of performance; the talent, the passion and the resilience of the students was both outstanding and inspirational! I would like to say a huge thank you to all involved, especially to the students and staff who worked tirelessly to raise our bar of expectation yet again. Well done!
Following a fabulous weekend, many students, across both primary and secondary schools have been involved in assessments this week. The information we collate from conducting assessments provide valuable insights into our students' academic progress and in many ways, the quality of our provision. However, we firmly believe that children are much more than their assessment grades. While academic achievements are important, character development is equally crucial in nurturing well-rounded individuals and will determine whether university places are offered and job opportunities are given. Our assessments will determine what is next in learning to ensure we are continuously seeking improvement and challenging your children to become their best selves.
In addition to challenging students, we also support our staff with continually challenging themselves and growing through a multitude of opportunities for CPD and personal development. Over the past year, we have proudly supported four staff members in achieving National Professional Qualification for Leadership in a range of areas, two in completing their Master (MA) degrees, and three in obtaining their International Postgraduate Certificate in Education (IPGCE). Additionally, our commitment to safeguarding has seen several staff complete Level 3 Safeguarding Training and a range of subject specific courses have been attended both locally and internationally in Thailand, Vietnam and Singapore. This dedication to professional development underscores our commitment to providing the best possible education for our students and in supporting them to achieve the best possible assessment results.
With only four weeks remaining in the school year, our attention has already turned to planning and development for the next academic year. We highly value parent feedback in this process, as it plays a critical role in shaping our programs and initiatives. Your continued involvement and feedback are essential as we strive to meet the evolving needs of our community and ensure every student receives a high-quality education. Thank you to those who have completed our parent survey, if you have not yet done so, please use the QR Link below in the newsletter to provide your feedback. Please remember, only a score of 9 or 10 shows you are happy with the school’s provision.
Please be reminded that there will be a school holiday on Monday in celebration of the Agung's birthday. Additionally, we would like to inform you of a change to next year's term dates based on a modification to the public holiday schedule made in Malaysia this week. Specifically, September 17th will no longer be a public holiday and therefore we will be OPEN for your children on this day. To account for this, please be aware, we will only open for new students on Tuesday 20th August and for returning students on the 21st August. This allows us an opportunity to provide and additional period of time for staff training, investing in development, while also supporting new joiners to our community. With this change, we still fulfil our 180 days of education. We encourage all families to take note of this change and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we adapt to these updates, ensuring a smooth and successful academic year ahead.
Have a lovely weekend,
Cassie Fleming,
Principal,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
