Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we approach the end of 2024, it is a perfect time to reflect on the shared
accomplishments and collective growth that have defined our school community this year.
December is always a special month at Sri KDU International School, filled with
opportunities to celebrate and connect through events such as the Winter Soiree and
Winter Wonderland, as well as our Parent Teacher Meetings! Something about this time of
year reminds us of the importance of community, and the care and the support of others.
Whether through charitable efforts, Carol Singing in the community, creating our Christmas
Tree display and lights, and so on, your involvement enriches the experience for all and
reflects the heart of our school ethos.
As we turn the page to a new year, our focus on Future-Proof Preparation and Holistic
Character Development remains stronger than ever. At Sri KDU, we are dedicated to
equipping our students with skills that go beyond academics—skills that will serve them in
navigating an increasingly complex and interconnected world. 2025 includes an
increasingly diverse amount of CCA’s, new Maker Lab for STEAM activities, increasing
opportunities to go on a range of school trips, and both AIMS and FOBISIA events and
competitions. We hope these increased opportunities for our children in 2025 continue to
build the skills necessary for the 21st century as its first quarter ends.
We, of course, encourage our parents to join us in this journey of preparing for the future.
The coming year will bring new workshops, parent engagement sessions, and further
opportunities for collaboration to ensure that together, we create an environment for the
future where every child thrives. Next week, you will receive the term 2 calendar, with all
upcoming events for the new year, including the list of highly anticipated coffee mornings
that are proving increasingly popular. The journey to 2025 is on countdown!
As 2025 approaches, this could be a great time to consider how we, too, can embrace
continuous improvement—whether by exploring new ways to support learning at home or
by setting personal goals to model lifelong learning for our children. Some potential New
Year’s resolutions below, (if you believe in them!):
“I will help my child to have a healthier lunch each day…after we finish the Xmas chocolate,
cake and cheese, then the Chinese New Year offerings, then…..”
“I resolve to limit my screen time—but only after I’ve found the perfect AI answers to my
child’s homework.”
“I resolve to model reading to my children by reading books I enjoy... even if they catch me
re-reading the same chapter because I fell asleep halfway through."
This time of year, is also a time when we can encourage our children to appreciate what
they have and reflect on how they can show gratitude through acts of giving. This might be
as simple as donating time to help others, contributing to community initiatives, or
extending a kind word or gesture to someone in need, or gifts to others in need, whatever
that need may be. Nurturing empathy, compassion, and a sense of responsibility in our
students is a key life skill in making the world a better place and, as a school community,
we are proud to see these values reflected in the continued generosity of Sri KDU parents,
staff, and students. Therefore, I believe the growing strength of our community and our
collective growth, will be the shared accomplishment that I will particularly remember from
2024.
Have a lovely weekend,
David Wilcock,
Vice Principal and Head of Primary,
On behalf of the Senior Leadership Team.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
