Services at SIKD
At Sri KDU International School, our students not only aim to achieve academically but also to develop holistically. We take service and community engagement very seriously. Apart from the many fundraising events, students engage with the community they raise funds for.
Students take ownership of what activities and which charitable organisation they support each year. At the start of each academic year, students nominate and then cast their vote for two charities that the school will support over the following academic year. While students can choose to support an international charity, the charity must have a base in Malaysia and has a specific project running in Malaysia, which can be directly supported by the funds raised.

The National Autism Society of Malaysia (NASOM)

It was registered on 3rd March 1987 as a national charitable organisation and it strives to provide a range of support services to assist people with autism, especially children and their immediate family members.

Despite the restrictions of the CMCO and the school closure students have been taking part on-line in House Departmental Virtual Challenges to fund raise. The first of three virtual departmental challenges took place in October with the Computing Department setting an on-line and very challenging computational thinking quiz. A total of 545 students took part. Our newly appointed House Year Leads went around their respective year groups prior to the event collecting a voluntary participation charity contribution which raised an amazing total of RM1900. The second round took place in November organised by the Maths Department. As school was closed at this point students were able to make a voluntary virtual pledge to take part which will be physically collected by the House Year Leads when we return. A total of just over 200 students took part and pledged RM661 to our fund raising. The final round takes place in December organised by the History department.

Pertiwi Soup Kitchen
Sri KDU International School has been a long term supporter of the Pertiwi Soup Kitchen, since 2014. At least once every half term and sometimes more frequently, parents, students and teachers come together to help out at the soup kitchen and take along items of clothes which can be distributed amongst the needy. Collection of pre-loved items is an on-going effort at the school the whole year round.
We believe that community engagements like these will raise awareness and cultivate our students’ compassion for the more vulnerable segments of society, developing them into well-rounded leaders of tomorrow, in line with our school motto, Tomorrow’s Leaders, Here and Now.

We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
