Primary Education
Vital Years For
Development of Children
Sri KDU International School, Kota Damansara, offers primary education following the British Curriculum's Key Stage 1 and 2 for Years 1 to 6. The curriculum covers a wide range of subjects, including Mathematics, Science, English, Humanities, Art, Music, PE, ICT, PSHE, and MFL (Modern Foreign Language) in KS2. The school environment encourages children to ask questions and take on challenges, developing their critical thinking and problem-solving skills while feeling safe and supported on their journey to reach their full potential.
Key Stage 1
Year 1 & 2 (Age 5 to 7)
After completing the Foundation Stage, children enter Key Stage 1 (Years 1 and 2), the beginning of their formal primary education. Effective transition between Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 is vital for the stability and development of the children. Learning opportunities are meticulously planned to allow children to apply their knowledge and skills in real-life contexts, develop relationships, and cultivate their enthusiasm for learning, which is crucial during their primary education years.
In Key Stage 1, each term children focus their work around a ‘theme’, incorporating the core subjects of English, Maths and Science alongside History, Geography, Art, Technology and Computing as well as Social Studies. It is through this cross-curricular approach that teachers skilfully provide opportunities for children to make connections between the subjects and begin to develop their problem solving skills.
Key Stage 2
Year 3 to 6 (Age 7 to 11)
The Key Stage 2 curriculum, which is based on the National Curriculum for England is innovative, engaging and designed to meet the needs of all learners. The children in Key Stage 2 continue their progress through the carefully planned curriculum themes to continue to push children’s learning and critical thinking to the maximum, focusing on the key 21st century skills of communication, problem solving and teamwork. High expectations are set for all our children in every aspect of their school life to enable them to reach their potential.
Enriching opportunities are delivered through a cross-curricular approach, stimulating curiosity and engaging children in their learning by making it meaningful and relevant to the world around them, which is a key component of effective primary education.
We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
