Primary Assessment and Report
Assessment and reporting are integral components of the teaching and learning programme at Sri KDU International Primary School. Together, they support students by laying the groundwork for further learning, while also keeping parents informed about their child’s achievements and progress.
At Sri KDU International Primary School, we utilise objectives aligned with the age-related expectations of the National Curriculum for England to assess student progress and achievement from Year 1 to Year 6.
Assessment
Assessment encompasses the various methods we employ to gather information regarding students' progress in their learning. We design assessment tasks that align with our learning objectives and success criteria, ensuring they are both relevant and meaningful. Judgements pertaining to attainment and progress are determined through the following processes:
- Continuous teacher assessment, informed by observations and assessment for learning.
- End-of-unit assessments that provide evidence of the retention and application of learning objectives.
Classroom assessments are designed to:
- Facilitate the application of knowledge and skills, including higher-order thinking skills as well as factual recall.
- Engage students in reflection, enabling them to better understand themselves as learners.
- Standardise expectations consistently across classes, achieved through collaborative moderation among staff.

Student Involvement
Students in Sri KDU International Primary School are encouraged to be participants in the assessment and reporting process. This means that students have the opportunity to:
- Monitor and evaluate their own progress through self-assessment.
- Assess the work of their peers against agreed criteria.
- Set goals and targets for their own learning.
- Provide reflections about their learning in student-led conferences with their parents.
Monitoring Student Progress
At Sri KDU International Primary School, we are committed to the continuous monitoring and tracking of student achievement and progress throughout the academic year. This information provides comprehensive insights into student attainment over time, which in turn supports teachers in their lesson planning and target setting.
To ensure that every child begins their learning journey on a solid foundation, we conduct baseline assessments at the onset of each school year. In Year 1, we assess Phonics and Mathematics, while from Year 2 to Year 6, we evaluate Reading, Spelling, Mathematics, English, and Science. These baseline assessments are instrumental in identifying individual learning needs, ensuring that all students are appropriately challenged and that any gaps in their learning are promptly addressed.
In addition, baseline assessments in Bahasa Melayu and Mandarin are conducted to evaluate proficiency, allowing us to make informed decisions regarding the placement of students into suitable language groups.
Communication with Parents
We provide formal reports to parents each term, complemented by informal updates during Parent-Teacher Conferences (PTCs).
Furthermore, we encourage parents to request a confidential interview with their child's home room or specialist teachers at any time should they have concerns regarding their child’s well-being, curriculum, or academic progress. Our staff is readily available to address any queries or to clarify any aspects of the progress reports, ensuring that parents feel informed and supported.

We visited numerous international schools in Klang-Valley and Sri KDU Subang Jaya was not even on our list. Reason being it is way out of our travelling radius. However, we are glad we made the visit to the school before our final call, and it was the best decision ever! It was a huge transition period for us during the first 2 weeks into school, but the school’s team (Teachers, Administrative and Parent’s Teacher Association) made us feel right at home. We were given clear guidance and was kept well informed on the happenings in the school. My daughter blended into the community quite well with the care provided by the Homeroom teacher. All the teachers here are the kindest, as she told me. She looks forward to going to school and has become more disciplined in terms on knowing what tasks she needs to complete daily. She has gained so much confidence during this short period of time and was given the encouragement to explore and develop her abilities here. She was just selected as the new Primary House Captain for Year 6 AY2022/2023.
Every parent want to find the ‘perfect’ school for their child and are afraid of making the wrong decision. For us, as long she is safe and happy, we believe, she will eventually find the way to her own success.
